It may not be showing up on our calendar, but I'm pretty sure we ought to be wishing a you a swanky day today - however you choose to celebrate it.
Cheers!

Thanks, guys! It was yesterday, but I appreciate the wishes nonetheless. I've been neglecting LoT lately, it's a good reason to come back!

You guys are awesome. Thanks so much for the wishes. I really should visit LoT more often. I feel like I see most of you on facebook, though, so at least there's that.
I had, perhaps, the swankiest birthday ever. I had never had a birthday party before, and I'd been craving lasagna all summer (but would never make a giant pan of lasagna for just me...the kids won't eat it), so I went to my friend Megyn's house and made tons of lasagna and garlic bread and salad. Maybe fifteen-ish friends came over and ate it with us, and drank plenty of red wine. There were three chocolate cakes, which, if you ask me, is just the right amount of chocolate cakes for any occasion. All delicious (ok, one was an incredibly rich wheat free chocolate cake, one was black bean brownies, and one was a frozen chocolate mocha thing..yum!). I'm lucky to have many musician friends, so we spent most of the night sitting outside playing and/or listening to fantastic live music. It was perfect. Almost worth a lifetime of no bday parties just to have so many good friends, lasagna, wine, chocolate, and live music in the same evening. I definitely felt loved.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around being 29, however. It seems like such a mature number, and I'm well, maybe not? ha.
