If this alone doesn't entice people to go, I don't know what will:
Aquaduck (http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/dream/pools/aquaduck/)
I'm still perusing the other stuff. :D

And, here (http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/staterooms/dream-fantasy/standard-inside-stateroom/) are their standard inside staterooms, which are far superior to the same category on any other line, especially with the virtual porthole feature. :)

OMG, you're right. I'm duly enticed.

Oh wow. I once had an inside closet cabin and swore never again, but that one looks plenty fab. Maybe someday.

Oh boy, an Alaska cruise looks great....This ship won't be going to Alaska - it's the new one for Florida, at least for now. There is also another one of these new ones being constructed for 2012. Not sure where they will send that one yet.
However, the Wonder (the ship that we get here that will be going to Alaska) was just outfitted with an additional enclosed cafe on the top deck, and has all the same amenities as the new ship, except for the "virtual portholes" and the water coaster, besides the variations in restaurants and bars.

I'm waiting for the water coaster. I don't care if it's not built till 2016 - - -that's when I'll be able to afford a cruise. ;)

In my experience, on a cruise, the level of amenities inside my cabin is absolutely irrelevant. I wake up, get dressed, and get out of my room before I'm even awake enough to care if there's a porthole or not, returning only to either change for dinner or go to sleep. Once my eyes are closed, every room looks the same to me. So the only thing I care about is location (not next to the engine room or an elevator, not in some inconvenient corner of the ship).
But then, that's no different for me than any vacation. As long as it exceeds minimum sanitary standards, I'm not remotely picky about my hotel room because that's not what I'm on vacation for. So ymmv.

I'm a little bit different.
So, speaking of differences, what's generally the difference between an inside Stateroom with a Virtual Porthole, and an outside Stateroom with a touch of oceanside veranda??
I'm not known to skimp ... which is why i won't be able to afford a cruise until 2016.

Hehe, by the time I am able to afford a cruise I will likely be too old to risk having my shriveled body flapping at high velocity on said water coaster.

So, speaking of differences, what's generally the difference between an inside Stateroom with a Virtual Porthole, and an outside Stateroom with a touch of oceanside veranda??About double the cost per person, about 50 more square feet of space, plus the veranda.
However, the Virtual Portholes are going to have random characters that pop up in them from time to time. :)

We've only done one Disney cruise so far - planning another one in 2 years, when Heather's brother hits a milestone birthday.
For me, the ability to open a window and get fresh air is an absolute must - and having a little veranda with a place to have a semi-private cup of coffee is a big plus. Worth the extra bucks, I say.

The Wolfpack has no interest in the Alaskan cruise, but come January 26th, 2011 (or shortly after), we'll be boarding the Dream in Florida!

We're doing Alsaska in 2011 and sprung for the veranda. On any other cruise I'd be fine with no view but the Alaska cruise you actually have views and I'm going to enjoy them on my veranda gosh darn it. :D

Can't get high or have a drink on the veranda without a veranda.
Just sayin'.

I'll concede a veranda making a difference. 4 walls and a small circle of glass vs. 4 walls and small circle of LEDs vs. 4 walls and no circle, I couldn't care less.

I think they need to make a water coaster that goes under the ship so you can be virtually keel haulled

They could have at least gone for a BIG watercoaster... underachievers. ;)
I'm just wondering if the Aquaduck is gonna use hydromagnetic drives or the older water/dewater technique for going uphill.
I'm hoping they went with ProSlide (hydromagnetic) - they're a great company, and have a really good support staff (which is NECESSARY with high tech waterslides).

What's REALLY funny about this, is there have been 3 previous ships built that were originally supposed to be the first to feature a watercoaster, but they've always been scaled back (I think Carnival had announced something with NBGS International- the originators of the water coaster, at that time).

But Disney would never scale anything back from their original concepts.
Never.
No, not Disney.

GD- I'm with you on the cabin with one minor point. We had a cabin on the Disney cruise that had a better orientation than other cabins; the door was on the long side of the rectangle, which made the room easier to move around in than a regular room.
Other than that, I'm with you in not spending much time in the cabin.
I'm intrigued by the virtual porthole with characters, though.

When we went on our one and only cruise last year, we had a private balcony room. I actually liked having that for solitude when I wanted to sit outside and read.

We are doing the Wonder's LA-to-Vancouver repositioning in April 2011 and staying onboard for a back-to-back to the first Alaska cruise. Thirteen nights, should be heavenly. Verandah stateroom, always. Hopefully no smokers in the next cabin forward like there were on our just-concluded cruise on the Magic.
The overnight in San Francisco should be interesting. Should we just go home for the day? Check on the cats, get the mail?

See, I LIKE waking up in the dark room and not knowing where the heck I am, what time it is, or who else is in the bed with me.
Takes me back to my drinking days. ;) :D

Hopefully no smokers in the next cabin forward like there were on our just-concluded cruise on the Magic.Ew, gross! They should make a smoking section like airplanes used to have... back of the ship, all on one side. Hotels have smoking and non-smoking rooms. Maybe DCL will also start doing the same.
See, I LIKE waking up in the dark room and not knowing where the heck I am, what time it is, or who else is in the bed with me.The new "virtual portholes" will resolve that problem. Although, I'm sure you could turn them off. ;)
Oh, btw, I've been selected to throw another official DCL House Party. :D The nationwide party date is supposed to be Nov. 14th, but I'm pushing it back to sometime after the first of the year. However, the box of party supplies arrives this week. Yay!! :) If anyone here is interested in attending, please PM me, so I'll add you to the invite. Please note that I'm going to give preference to people who couldn't make it to last year's party, since space in our home is limited.
