I made the happy discovery this weekend (actually, my out-of-town guest, Mike, discovered it for me) that Heidi and I get BBC America. JOY!

I love Steve Coogen. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0176869/

Some of you Disneyphiles may know him from Around the World in 80 Days, a movie I'm loathe to admit I actually like. I thought it was cute. And I thought Coogen was hugely charming as Phileas Fogg. A friend of mine, however, thinks his lips look like two pieces of liver stapled together. LMFAO, but ouch. Maybe my friend should write for www.fuggingitup.com

Speaking of the Fuggers, they have a shirt now. It says "I hate what you're wearing." Heee.

Anyway, Alan Partridge. Great character. Such a funny show. I'm so looking forward to watching more of it. Anyone else?

Not sure if this post belongs in the geek-out thread or not, but Steve Coogan created the character of Alan Partridge as the sportscaster for a radio show called "On The Hour", a news spoof by Chris Morris. On the Hour went to TV as "The Day Today" and Alan Partridge went with it. Steve revived the AP character for a BBC radio show called "Knowing Me, Knowing You," which begat the TV series of the same name. Following KMKY, Alan Partridge appeared in "I'm Alan Partridge", which was so popular that Coogan revived the character for a second series.
In between all of the shows, Alan Partridge made several appearances on charity shows as well as turning up in Steve Coogan's multi-character stand-up show, "The Man Who Thinks He's It". Alan's incredible Kate Bush medley in that show is not to be missed.

I'd say it belongs here. Or there. Thanks for the information!

One more cool Coogan/Disney tie-in worth mentioning.
Terry Jones (1/6th of Monty Python) directed a great live-action version of "Wind In The Willows" in 1996. It's cast is filled with notable British comedians, including 3 other Pythons (Eric Idle, John Cleese, Michael Palin) and Steve Coogan, who plays Mole.
Disney picked the film up for US release and retitled it "Mr Toad's Wild Ride". It's available on Disney DVD - well worth a rental.

If you get BBC America, check out Wire in the Blood (http://www.bbcamerica.com/genre/drama_mysteries/wire_in_the_blood/wire_in_the_blood.jsp). It's a kick ass crime show. Dark and brooding. I'm in love with Robson Green.
