New Pirates to be filmed in Hawaii (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100120/ap_en_ot/us_pirates_hawaii). GC better get some screen time!

Let's pray it's better than World's End.

ETA: Looks like the film will be sans Elizabeth and Will, so that shoots its potential way up. And I'm kind of stoked to see Barbossa and Jack roaming around New Orleans. Hmm... I'm actually getting a bit hopeful for this!

I wonder if they are going to follow the current trend and film it in 3D.

World's End sucked so badly that I am not excited for this at all.

I'll go you one further. I thought Dead Man's Chest was three hours of misery, and only looks as good as it does because World's End was so much worse.

This next film can succeed if it gets back to basics (actual piracy, which was almost totally lacking in the 2nd and 3rd films, character-driven humor, clearly staged action in which the stakes are clear and compelling - all things the first movie achieved nicely.)

If GC can swing even a walk-on in it though, this will become my favorite pirate movie just for that, of course!

This news has all the actors on the island buzzing. We'll see if they will be using any local actors for anything. That would be neat if they did.

Huzzah! I did love Davy Jones, though, and thought his character was tragically buried under the overwrought story and army of unnecessary supporting characters. Any time Bill Nighy gets lost in the shuffle, something is definitely wrong.

Hell yeah! I'll walk around with it on a chain, a la Flava Flav, and show it to everyone I know, bragging that I know "Swabby #6!" :D

Good luck!!! Good luck!!!

Now, you just need for our own Capt. Jack to head out there and be an extra. That would be cool for him, too, eh? 'Capt. Jack, meet, Capt. Jack. '

So cool these opportunities, GC!!

I'd like to see them stick a little closer to the ride and maybe include a scene with the pirates sailing past a restaurant.

Have they had a bride auction scene yet? Or a mayor dunking scene?

No, but I heard there is a scene where Captain Jack and Locke split the group and Jack takes half to the caves while Locke and his group stays on the beach.

Wait, wrong side of the island....

I smell a 'Lost' joke. Was that a 'Lost' joke?

There is a mayor dunking in the deleted scenes of the first movie. It's during a long establishing shot of Tortugas, and should very much have been kept in the final edit.
