... wait for Alex Chilton when he comes round
They say, "I'm in love, what's that song?
I'm in love with that song."

R.I.P Alex Chilton

I would rank Chilton's band, Big Star (along with the late, Chris Bell, Andy Hummell & Jody Stephens) among the very best rock bands of all time. I was turned on to them in the early Nineties and caught them each time they came to town. By that time they were long past their prime, but I knew I was seeing a band, the likes of which, would not come 'round again. If you never had the opportunity to see them play live -- too bad. But there is always time to play catch up with their music.

Fresh Air with Terri Gross is replaying an interview with Alex Chilton today. It dates from 1991 and was wonderful (my NPR station I stream is from Kent State) I'm sure it will be on one of the KUSC stations as well.
