5+ years ago, we came together as a community. I think it's safe to say that those 5 years has made all of our lives better for those of us who have enjoyed posting here. We at the LoT thought it was time to think beyond ourselves some, to use the power that this small bunch of swanky people have to make more than our own lives better.
And so we are pleased to announce our first ever charity partnership. We have been searching hard for a cause that we can support, that fits with our swank philosophy, and that we think you, as the most awesome community on the 'net, can get behind. So PLEASE, do what you can to help.

Will this partnership enable us to orgasm for 20 minutes, like pigs do? Otherwise, I want no part of it.
(Well, except the bacon)

I read that as "Poker International" and had visions of a charity poker tournament.

I'll have to ask PI's webmaster. We've provided them with hosting space as a donation, once they sent me the files it only took a few minutes to bring the site live.

I can't find an image, but apparently Earth's Best and/or Gerber makes Bacon Vegetable baby food.

So... How long did it take you to put that page together?
From concept to going live, about 90 minutes. I mentioned to NA on IM that I wanted to do something, we did a little brain storming, NA came up with Porker International (other ideas floated: Swanking with Lindsay Lohan, a Swanking to a HeeHaw Revivoal Tour, Swank Space Camp, Swank trip where we rent out the entire Madonna Inn, Swank Camp 2020 Planning Thread, field trip to a pig farm to learn how to make bacon). Then NA took a nap while I put the site together between doing actual work. It was probably 20-30 minutes of actual effort on the site.
And it only took me 5 years to get the balls to do another joke.

OMG piggies are so cute. I think I just became a vegetarian again :(Well, to me pigs, cows, and turkeys are so darn ugly that I have no problem eating them. (ok, pigglets can be kinda cute;) ). But don't ask me to eat a Bambie.....
And it only took me 5 years to get the balls to do another joke.
So now you have bacon balls!

"Students didn't go to school, their parents were frightened and I almost evacuated the town's 13,000 residents," Mleihan told The Associated Press. "People were scared that aliens would attack them."
Al Ghad's managing editor, Moussa Barhoumeh, tried to defuse the situation, saying the report has been "blown out of proportion."
"We meant to entertain, not scare people," he said.Wow, this reminds me of the radio broadcast of "War of the Worlds". I don't think that would even be possible here today, just goes to show how far behind these third world countries are...

Mmm-hmm.
From Radiolab (http://www.wnyc.org/shows/radiolab/episodes/2008/03/07)
In 1949, when Radio Quito decided to translate the Orson Welles stunt for an Equadorian audience, no one knew that the result would be a riot that burned down the radio station and killed at least 7 people.
and then
it happens again. This time it’s in the 1960s in Buffalo, NY.
Listen to the fascinating podcast (http://www.wnyc.org/flashplayer/player.html#/play/%2Fstream%2Fxspf%2F92697).
