I'm inspired by some photos a friend of mine just posted where she and a few Trekkie (and Trekker, if you wanna get technical) friends went out to the Vasquez Rocks and took photos in costume.

Many, many films and television shows have been filmed on location there, so I'm thinking we could take some pretty awesome photos with a little planning. (For some reason, I'm thinking Spaceballs as a top contender?)

The Vasquez Rocks (http://parks.lacounty.gov/Parkinfo.asp?URL=cms1_033383.asp&Title=Vasquez%20%20Rocks%20Natural%20Area%20and%20 Center) lie on the San Andreas Fault. Also they were the hiding place of bandito Tiburcio (wait for it...) Vasquez (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiburcio_V%C3%A1squez). (Here is another detailed history of Vasquez (http://www.californiahistory.com/sample.html))

I don't have a date in mind yet, but I thought I'd open this up for discussion and see if folks would be interested in a day outing.

I don't have any costumes, but I do have a great camera and Vasquez rocks is a fun photo opportunity.

It's fun to see how many different things have filmed there. I'll be watching something, and all of a sudden, the rocks are there!

It's a great place to go for a hike, to sit on the rocks in the sun, to have a picnic, great photo opportunities galore. Just not my taste since i grew up a short distance away and managed to go there periodically.

We'd love to go back again. That would be a fun place for wild west costumes!
