Today marks the anniversary of the first acid trip.

Chemist Albert Hofmann inadvertently experienced the world's first acid trip when a miniscule quantity of lysergic acid diethylamide accidently seeped through the skin of his finger. After leaving work early, he went home and settled into "a not unpleasant intoxicated condition." Then he had solid two hours of visual hallucinations: "I perceived an uninterrupted stream of fantastic pictures, extraordinary shapes with intense, kaleidoscopic play of colors." It will be another three days before Hofmann gets up the courage to swallow 250 micrograms and ride his bicycle home.

You know, I swear I did not know today was the anniversary of the first acid trip, but..... I was at work, and had been literally running non-stop for about nine hours straight. (Going on vacation next week, so I have to cram two weeks worth of work into one). Anyway, I had a weird deja-vous kind of feeling at one point, more than likely the result of too much caffeine and no food all day, but it came out of nowhere and kind of caught me off guard. I had to sit down for a minute because I got a little dizzy, and I half wondered if it was one of those fabled flashbacks. I only did a few tabs of acid back in the seventies, but you never know......
