Alas, we'll be missing this year. We'll be on a ship in the Atlantic that day (and a few days to follow, followed by a trip to Hogwarts.) But we'll be there next year!

I hope to make it back from Vegas in time. That's the plan, anyway.

A trip to Hogwart's? Does that mean you'll be in my neighborhood? Cool!

Alas, only in attendance if it's skypable.

Update: After some off-board discussion, here's the plan:

3:00 PM - Festivities will kick off. We'll start running appropriately themed movies in the Den, while the living room & deck will be for hanging out and (gasp) conversation.

5:00 PM - The barbecue will be fired up. Burgers and corn on the cob will meet the flames.

9:00 PM - Midnight (at least based on last year) - Fireworks all over the freakin' LA basin.

We'll supply the the burgers, corn and drinks. Sides, salads, desserts etc are up to you.

My brother is once again in town for this holiday along with his lovely family. This might be developing into a tradition.

We'll always be at Casa Chihuahua in spirit, though.

Unless some heretofore unknown vacation plans throw themselves at me, I'll be there after my farmer's market - Larchmont, in case anyone wants to come shopping.

1776 sing-along? iPod plug-in for patriotic fireworks mix? Go to hell, Jim, we don't want to relive last year's nightmare?

Jim - I've got my iPod speakers ready for your mix. Looking forward to it, however cheesy it is.

Waaaa, I've got a 4th of July mix that, I daresay, would rival Parmesan Jim's (it's a bit more concise - 25 years of editing will do that) - but he's got first dibs 'cause he had a portable sound system last year and I had only a CD. Backwards technology gets me nowhere. I'm old.

We have lots of the same songs, btw - aligning mostly in the Disney Dept. - which, as Jim and most of you well know, has a lot of patriotic music.

So maybe if fireworks do indeed go to midnight, we can listen to both ...and take in stride any repeats, heheh - but who could tire of America Sings and Great Mr. Lincoln on the Fourth of July? Only the Benedict Arnolds of today, that's who!! :)

We're a maybe right now! A friend I haven't seen in a decade is coming to town, so I'm working around her vacation schedule as to when she wants to get together. :)

If you'd like, you can bring her along! We'll do a head count on Friday so we can go burger and beverage shopping.

We'll be there for the early shift but we must get home to puglets before the big booming starts (they get too stressed out).

Big daddy mouse has decided to own me until 1030 - starts early enough and ends late enough to guarantee I don't get to do anything that day.

iSm, have you listened to Stan Freberg Presents yet? 'Tis the season.

I'll supply a good 40 minutes of patriotic bombast, and cede the rest to Steve.

Stan Freberg presents was a riot! Thanks. The world is so much stranger now I know that recording exists.

Am I leaving anyone out?Surprisingly, we may be in if that is okay (our usual Quatro de Julio friends aren't doing their thing this year). And it is even a slim chance of there being a third with us. If Heather has already shopped, we'll just grab something - no worries.

We're hoping to make it. We might not stay too late, what with the new family members and all, but we're planning to come for at least part of it!

Now, I have to decide what to bring!

Thanks for another perfect 4th of July. The festivities at your place are always magnificent. I had a terrific time. It was swell to see everyone. Thank goodness our host and hostess have such good taste in real estate ;) ... and are such wonderful, generous, fun-loving people!

We had a lot of fun! We times out departure a bit too late though and had to see ISM. ;) We played "Beat the Boom" all of the way home - we got stuck in some accident/DUI traffic. The pugs barked all night long at the noise outside. Poor kids - fireworks really upset them.

We had a wonderful time! Apparently we could have stayed longer as the kittens were completely uninterested in the fireworks noise.
