I'm hoping this is easier than an Excel question -

I have a user who is now the owner of documents created by another user. The documents are not protected and the new user can edit the documents; however, the new user cannot access the data within the "drop down boxes" that were set up by the creator. Then, on some of the documents she can access the drop down boxes but cannot make changes to the unprotected document.

Macros are enabled, permissions are correct. The only thing I haven't tried is changing ownership on the entire folder.

Any suggestions?

I suppose that would be important. Office 2007. Not sure of the service packs, some machines have the latest, some don't.

Read this page. (http://www.java2s.com/Tutorial/Microsoft-Office-Word-2007/0160__Controls-ActiveX-Macro/InsertingaDropdownListcontrolintoyourtemplate.htm)

Look for "content cannot be edited"

Good find Moonie

One additional note on this: to get the Developer Tab to show, click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Word Options. Click Popular, and then select the Show Developer tab in the Ribbon check box.

I should write an article: 10 Things you never knew word could do.
