I'm trying to find a certain Chuck Jones cartoon, or rather, character.

I've got this mental image of a Chuck Jones character with big blue eyes, in that curvy adorable cutesy style of his.

Cindy's eye's have whites. The ones I'm thinking of are entirely blue.

After some Googling I thought I had the right short, Rocket-Bye Baby, since the style seemed so right on. I Netflixed a DVD, but it turns out that neither Mot nor Yob ever open their eyes from the squint you see here. (Great print, BTW, first time I've watched an Merrie Melodie on our HDTV.)

I'm beginning to worry that it's from Jones' version of The Phantom Tollbooth, which I watched a bunch as a kid. The DVD isn't on Netflix, but no way am I buying that movie just for a screen cap.

If someone knows what the hell I'm talking about I'd appreciate some help, because it's messing with my head.

So blue eyes like this (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1468439808/tt0243658)? But the character is a little girl?

Hmmmm...

Suckally, my WB books are in storage.

I recall a cartoon where the little girl was torturing/ smothering a cat with "love." The voice was by June Foray I think. It might have been a Pepe' le' Pew where the cat escapes him only to land in the arms of the pest girl.

Hmmmmm

Is the Chuck Jones Gallery still open in Old Town Orange just west of the Plaza on the north side of Chapman Ave? You might find the information there.

Wait, I might be on to something.

Wasn't there another switched-at birth bit? Drunk stork? Possibly a baby and a gorilla baby getting switched?

ETA: Giant, not gorilla. "Goo Goo Goliath". Not sure this is right, but worth more research.

Hmmmm...Don't know if it's a girl, boy, baby, or what. Don't think I've seen the White Seal before.

Thanks for the links, Bornieo.

I even met Jones' daughter once, at an event at the library. I admit I'd feel like an idiot, showing up and saying "you know, the cute one!"

Heh, turns out Goo Goo Goliath is on the DVD we have, and it's not the right set of eyes. Watching cartoons and calling it research is fun ;)

http://toolooney.goldenagecartoons.com/marc1.jpgI loooooove that cartoon. Loooooove!

or maybe Ralph?

http://toolooney.goldenagecartoons.com/boyhood1.jpgAww Ralph is cute too. What's he from?

Gotta say no on both. I'm still thinking there are no whites in the eyes. This is starting to smell like a wild goose (I'm making you guys) chase.

BTW: I have nothing to offer on the topic, but it is great seeing the group collaboration thing - people helping where they can!

Actually I believe that clip is from "A to Zzzzz"

Here's Boyhood Daze (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKMtUEyiEF4&feature=related), and Ralph in that is definitely the closest yet to what CP and I are remembering, particularly around the 0:48 mark. But not quite, unless we've both manufactured the same false memory.

It may very well have been just one-off incidental character, some infant in a stroller or the like. Younger than Ralph is portrayed. And more rudimentary in style, one of those where you could practically still see the pencil marks.

You're right. My brain was on hiatus. :)
