As of this morning, we have called the police on our upstairs neighbors for the second time this week. So, I am looking to get a second camcorder to carry around and be ready to shoot with to gather evidence when sh*t comes up. My goal is to have J carry around our other small camera (though we could get two of whatever I get now, if the price is right).

I'm looking at the Flip camera, but not necessarily married to any kind of brand or name.

Anyone here have any kind of advice? My requirements: Decent video and sound, lightweight, easy-to-use.

Thanks in advance.

Signed,

The flip more or less meets those requirements. Video is great, if a bit shaky (to be expected with such small optics). Sound is very good, within a certain range. If you're more than conversational-distance, you might have some difficulty with audio. But for ease of use, can't be beat.

I'm wondering if instead of finding two cameras that you have to carry with you at all times, there might be other, more reasonable solutions to dealing with your current situation such as moving, or perhaps purchasing fire arms?

For future use beyond psycho-neighbor documentaries you might consider Kodak's version. Theirs has the ability to record on removable media.

Ended up going with the Sony Bloggie. Slightly agitated that I will be using their Stick again, but it seemed to be the best in the "quickly available" option. It's small like the flip, looks more like a cell phone. I think it's lighter than my Blackberry.

Overall, happy with my purchase.

Well, too late to be helpful to you, but I'm exceedingly happy with the Flip. It powers up faster than my digital still camera so I can go from grabbing it to recording in very short time. The color tends to be a little on the cool side, but I've found it quite useful.
