View Full Version : Need a lamp for $5

We closed our furniture store a few years ago and I'm pulling leftovers out of storage to sell cheap. I've got about 20 lamps left - if you need a lamp you should get one - they are all $5 each. Have lampshades. Some are missing the fineal. (sp?)
I've got a few dud cabinets that were off by size or color or that are years old showroom models. Adjustable bridge wall units for example - Iv'e got one for $250 and one for $300. One credenza style for $125.
I've also got some antiques to get rid of. Misc table or credenza or what have you.
I've already bought a little kitchen island with a butcher block top for $50, 2 lamps for $5 each and a painting for $15.
PM me if you want the address to check it out.

I wish I had more space in my house actually. When we moved last year, we ended up renting a much smaller house with long narrow living room and dining room. I'd buy more stuff if I had a spot to put them. Heck, I even considered buying them and selling them for more online. Knowing how much we paid for them and what we were selling them for before makes me giddy buying them for so little.

I still have one of those gigantic 220v warehouse lamps I got from you way back when. well, the lens/shade anyway. found a guy who wanted the rest of them for his place.
(I have a feeling theyre grow lamps now, if you catch my drift.)

My boss is shopping for furniture for our new office. Credenza a definite possibility.

Do you have a bookcase that is no more than 23 inches wide, and no taller than 48 inches?
Betty

Is it a magic lamp?
It's magically $5 so - yes. ;)

No - but I do have other bookcases larger than that. I have a little one about 1/2 that height that's $25.

Y'know, I'd like to see those bookcases. We've been in this condo for over a year, but all my books and dvds are still in boxes.

I took some quick photos of bookcases on clearance. Some are cabinets that were rejected (due to wrong size or color) or that have been in the showroom forever and we want to get rid of - some are from timber towne (in the shabby chic look) and they are 75% off what the original price was.
Priced from left to right 200, 200, 375, 675, 25, 383, 300

All this time I thought you were looking for a lamp for five dollars. (No question mark in the thread title).

The first one is $375 - which is actually 75% off what it was at one point when the furniture store was open. It's from a company called Bramble that makes antique reproductions and similar.
The second one sold over the weekend.

If we had the room I'd buy that first one in a heartbeat.

I've got similar Bramble pieces in different colors - grey and creamyish off white. You can see them in the background here: http://www.woodworkcreations.com/clearance/clearance/target5.html
They range from $275 to $420. They are all the "shabby chic" sort of style.

I normally hate shabby chic, but that one just works for me. I think the combo of it being dark rather than the usual white/creamy shabby chic and just the fact that the form is so wonderful. Also, at least in the picture, something about it looks more genuinely worn than purposely shabbified.

Yeah - I'm at that point myself. Nothing else can go in the house unless something comes out. Of course, I've said that before and it didn't last very long. But now I really mean it - after I brought it all that other stuff there REALLY isn't room for more.
The bonus though was that we were able to create a nice sitting area in our bedroom with 2 comfy chairs we had in the living room and an end table. Our little retreat from the kids. ;)

Betty, I'm seriously considering that first piece. I love it. Do you have a downpayment or layaway process available?
Betty
10-05-2010, 03:00 PM
We do for custom cabinetry but because these things are on clearance, it's first come, first served, no returns, all sales final, as is, no delivery... I think that about covers it.
Sorry. I can tell you if it's still here when/if you'd like to know. I can also knock 10% off the price which would make it $337 - but that's all I've been allowed to discount.

However, if you say wanted to put down 50% one week and pick it up a week or two later, I could probably convince them to do that. I doubt they would go for longer though.

OK. I imagine it's first-come physically at the store?

I can take your credit card by phone and hold it for a few days if that works for you.

And out come the goodies. End tables - have a bunch of them. Different heights and colors. Some in sets.
Adorable brown with black stripes dresser/table/thingy.
Lot's of bin holders in various colors.
Will post pics over next day or so. Getting ready to advertise to have sale on next few weekends though so if you wanted to see if before the "real world" gets their hands on it - now is the time.
Damn it - I can't bring more of this home. except the bar stools, right?

End Tables? We need. Anything in espresso?
Betty
10-13-2010, 09:21 AM
Sure do! They were orginally 299 and 379 for the sets of 2 graduated sizes and are now 75% off that. Let me see if I can get a few photos.
Betty
10-13-2010, 10:28 AM
Here's a link to photos. The last few show end tables. I was orginally told to sell them at 75% off what they once were.
http://picasaweb.google.com/timbertowne/Clearance?authkey=Gv1sRgCNmAqO6vlJWY0QE&feat=directlink
Which would make several sets less than $100... now I heard that they don't want to mark it down that much though. So here's the deal - if there is something you want at the 75% off price get down here ASAP M-F from 9-5. I will sell it to you at 75% off until the owner tells me not to. (I can say I didnt know better until then). I expect that option for a few days at most.
After that? I have no frickin idea - which is very frustrating. Hard to sell things when they just plopped down willy nilly without any guidelines or organization. (It's driving me nuts having my (our) showroom in this state.)
