Hey there. I've been a little elusive, mostly because I've been busy with work, and with a project Tom and I have been working on for the last several months.

Some of you may know that we've decided to take the writing career bull by the horns. We've been writing every day together for at least an hour, and we're about to complete a 22-minute animated series pilot script called Bubble Gumshoe. Here's our log line:

A clever ten-year-old boy, inspired by old movies, runs a detective agency out of his treehouse.

I'd describe it as Calvin and Hobbes meets Double Indemnity. Our first episode is called "The Maltese Penguin."

Completing this script is just the first goal completed towards our ultimate goal of finishing a complete screenwriting portfolio, but we're really excited about it, and we're interested to have feedback from a variety of people with a variety of tastes and perspectives.

So, if we were hosting a workshop reading of our Bubble Gumshoe script in November, would you want to join us? Any days or times that are good/bad? Maybe Saturday afternoon might work best? (We're looking at renting a space, and trying to get a head count estimate.)

Having been lucky enough to have participated in a preview of Bubble Gumshoe, we would LOVE to see a full episode. Sundays might be better for us, but nothing is set at this point.

Saturday would work perfectly for me. Mondays are out, daytimes Thursday, Friday, and Sunday are out, as well.

I'd be very bummed if I wasn't able to participate.

Hey, Flippyshark, Gemini Cricket! Get your asses out here, Tom and Heidi's doing a show!

We're definitely considering Saturday, November 13 (we have out-of-town hopeful guests available to attend that day), so that should cover the Commodore too. (Hopefully Kevy & GusGus, who were rooting for Sunday, will still be able to make it?)

Right now we have about 10 people who have responded here and elsewhere. Thanks, guys, for the support - we really appreciate it. Is anybody else interested?

Dang it; now that date seems so far away for something that I am SO looking forward to!

My schedule of very up and down, but at the moment the 13th looks promising in the afternoon.

But, I'm only coming if we get to find out who did it. ;)

Yes! The end of the episode will have the big reveal. But it won't come until then. Mua ha ha. (Kevy, it's not so long from now, I promise! But I love that you're looking forward to it - I am excited too!)

We haven't booked the exact afternoon time, Lisa - so if you think there's a better chance you could attend at, say, 2 or 3 than at 4, etc, let me know.

Earlier is better for me. I have evening visits on the books already.

Damn. I wanted to go to Chicago. I guess I'll have to be satisfied by top notch entertainment from top notch writers instead.

Just a reminder that we're T minus one week from the Bubble Gumshoe reading. Woo-hoo!

If you haven't received an invitation, we may have sent it to an old email address... so if you'd like one, please let me know which address we should send to.

My probably is a firm yes! Chris gets home on Friday night, not Saturday so we'll both be there.

How late do you expect it to run?
And, did you hire Rosalind Russell to play Roz?

Hurrah hurrah hurrah! We will be so glad to have you both there.

The reading itself will be no longer than an hour (we have the theater until 3.) There will be a workshop discussion in the classroom next to the theater right after, but we have to be loaded out by 4. Though we'd be happy to go out for drinks or dinner afterward!

If only we could raise Rosalind from the dead! Though now that makes me want to write a silver-screen-era zombie film...

Sorry we can't make it, H. Previous engagement that Erik had on the books but I had forgotten to place on mine. Looking forward to hearing all about it and to reading the rest. Loved what we heard in Palm Springs.

Ends up that we are sneaking away for the weekend to San Diego, so won't be able to make it. I was hoping to make it to your reading, but a weekend away wins out.

You guys rock. Glad we could make it and Theo let us see most of it. I'm honored to know such amazing writers! The voice actors did a fantastic job, too. Best of luck on this venture!

B and I had a lovely time at the reading and seeing everyone. :D There are many times where we both miss out on the opportunities to see our friends but this was not one of them!

Congratulations Heidi and Tom on a job well done!
