It was Cecil's Law (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/register.php) more than a decade earlier, though in the form of Don't be a Jerk."

Unfortunately, that rule is not clear enough for many people and it tends to accrete clarifications over time.

I'm not entirely sure FEJ is a person, I suspect it's one of those "Artificial Intelligence" programs that someone gave a LoT membership to. It would explain a lot. Afterall, has anyone actually seen FEJ?

I have personally viewed a FEJ but not in many aeons.

Back to the original topic, this so called rule seems to be derivative from the sage wisdom of our very own Not Afraid (http://www.loungeoftomorrow.com/LoT/quotes.php?do=view&quoteid=1676).

I prefer "Don't Be a Douche".

EDIT: HA!

I read that as Bacon-aire - like a millionaire but with bacon. Mmmm.

"The Bacon-Aire... By Ronco!"

I think that's more of a guideline or best practice than a law
