OMG! I've never laughed SO hard in my life!!! :snap: That poor baby thing!! I had to post the name, in case people don't click on the link. It's freaking hilarious!!!

I subbed in this one classroom sorta in the 'hood one day, and I had this group of kids.....I could pronounce ONE name with confidence out of 16. ONE. There was one little girl whose name was Deloquacious, and I could pronounce that. The rest were WAY funky!!! And I never knew if they were boy names or girl names.....I was so lost. If I sub in there again, I'll copy down the names and post them. FUNKY.

I think that's it, in a nutshell! At one of my schools I had a little girl by the first name of Princess, but that's as weird as I can remember.

I saw a little girl (and her twin) with embroidered Mickey ears on. One was named Mia and the other Brooklyn.

Brooklyn? There were 6 children al together. I was wondering if one of the boys was named Harlem and the baby's name was Flatbush.

This year I have a Brooke-Lynn at my school. For God's sake, just spell it Brooklyn, if that's what you want her to be called.

Weird names are a pet peeve of mine. I also hate trendy names. Grr.

Oh you know, that's one of my name pet peeves, too! Kids who are named after places- the only reason a kid should be named Dakota is if they were conceived there. I met a girl named Avalon once, and that was all I could think, that she was the result of some weekend getaway to Catalina!

Years ago, I had a kid in my program whose first name and last name were the same. After a while I did get to know his mother well enough to ask her WTF she was thinking. I forget what she told me.

There is a Freshman girl in my program with the first name Ashton. It's not really a bad name....but when I first had her in my program as a 7th grader...I put her in the boys class. Oops. :eek:

A woman walks into the downtown welfare office, trailed by 15 kids...

"WOW," the social worker exclaims,"are they ALL YOURS???"

"Yep they are all mine," the flustered momma sighs, having heard that
question a thousand times before. She says, "Sit down Leroy."

All the children rush to find seats.

"Well," says the social worker, "then you must be here to sign up. I'll
need all your children's names."

"This one's my oldest - he is Leroy."
"OK, and who's next?"

"Well, this one he is Leroy, also."

The social worker raises an eyebrow but continues. One by one, through the
oldest four, all boys, all named Leroy. Then she is introduced to the
eldest girl, named Leighroy!

"All right," says the caseworker. "I'm seeing a pattern here. Are they ALL
named Leroy?"

Their Momma replied, "Well, yes-it makes it easier. When it is time to get
them out of bed and ready for school, I yell, 'Leroy!'

An' when it's time for dinner, I just yell 'Leroy!' an' they all comes
arunnin.'

An' if I need to stop the kid who's running into the street, I just yell
'Leroy' and all of them stop. It's the smartest idea I ever had, namin'
them all Leroy."

he social worker thinks this over for a bit, then wrinkles her forehead
and says tentatively, "But what if you just want ONE kid to come, and not
the whole bunch?"

"I call them by their last names."

I have notcied the trend in Nickolas' friends. On his introduction day at kindergarten I offended a grandmother when I asked how the little girl's name was pronounced. I mean with my name being spelled differently and The Boy's name spelled differently I guess I am not that much better.

You my not believe this one, but it is a true story. (Either that or my friend has pulled one over on me, which is not her style.)

The brother of a very good friend of mine worked at as a Social Worker working mainly Hispanic families in a poor part of town (which town I don't remember, but somewhere in So. Cal). This one couple ended up pregnant and he was working with them to make sure the mother got the care she needed throughout her pregnancy.

After their child was born, the couple brought the baby in to see the Social Worker. Naturally, he asked their new daughter's name was.

(And I will use the phonetic spelling of the baby's name until the end.)

"Fey-maul-ee" the mother gleefully responded.

"Fey-maul-ee?" the Social Worker queried.

"Yes," said new mother, "the hospital named her for us."

After continued discussion, Social Worker realizes what happened. It seems it is the hospital's standard practive to put the GENDER in teh first name area of the birth certificate if teh parents don't have a name at the tme of birth. So the parents thought the hospital had named their daughter "Female" (pronounce as if it were a Spanish word).

I registered a set of twins at the library the other day. One was named Christian, the other, Kristopher.

This lady is insane, I thought. But instead I said, "Two "Chris', huh?"

"Yeah," she said. "That's why I went with the K for Kristopher, so they're different."

Of course, she called them by their full names when speaking to them - no way in hell anyone would be able to call either of them "Chris", no matter how she friggin' spelled it.

We soooooo thought Bailey was mainly a boys name when we picked it. But NOPE!

He gets called a girl often! :rolleyes:

And then of course we complicate it by making him go by his middle name...his first name is John! We have often thought when he goes into Texas politics, he can just shorten it to J. Bailey! :D ;)

And then we don't learn and spell Kassidy with a K! And then she refuses to really go by Kassidy, and wants to be called Kat! With a K! :rolleyes:

I have a cousin who's name is Bethann Mary...when she was growing up, her mother demanded everyone call her by the WHOLE thing....Bethann Mary! I can remember getting in trouble for calling Bethann.

Of course I also thought her mother was the Wicked Witch of the East (the one under the house!) growing up!
