Have you guys heard about the "Accomplice" (http://accomplicetheshow.com/index.php) tour of Hollywood? It's an interactive theater experience where you and your group of 10(+) receive clues and have to dash about Hollywood (on foot) trying to solve a mystery.
We were considering going for my birthday (the Saturday following, March 12.)
Would anyone else be interested?

Wow that does sound neet, I love the idea of tours, but usually the tour guide makes me run away . . .

Awesome, I'd love to.
Heheh, but I can't help but think of the MouseAdventurish game we devised around Hollywood. The folks at Johnny Rockets at the H&H were mad because all our contestants kept coming in for the clues embedded in their table-side juke boxes.
Oh, and my favorite quest involved counting all the nipples visible in the Abercrombie at The Grove. Bwahahahaha.

On careful consideration, we're going to say no to this one...but if there's a dinner to be had afterwards we'd love to see you there. :)

Since I have NO idea when I'm going to have surgery, I can't commit to anything. It sucks.
LSPoorEeyorick
01-29-2011, 11:07 PM
NA, since it seems we can add to a group if we fill up 10 slots, it should be OK if you don't commit. (But we'll need at least 10 of us to commit soonish, which doesn't seem like it will be a problem.)
CP, we have to do our own careful consideration a lot these days - so we totally understand. I was thinking we could head to Tender Greens for dinner afterward, so hopefully we can see you there!

I'm interested but after looking at the price ($65pp for those who haven't looked) I'll have to pass and be a maybe for dinner (depends what is going on with my dad).

Sounds like a total blast!
Alas, we'll be working the HRC gala that day and evening, so we can only be there in spirit. :)

Yeah, it is a bit pricey, so we completely understand if people aren't able. We wouldn't be able to if we hadn't budgeted for my birthday.
But FYI, it's $55 with the sale code. (Which we have.)

So we can reserve a time slot with 10 people... and here are the people I've heard from that are definite or probable:
LSPE
Tom
iSm
iSm +1?
Katie
Madz
Kevy
Susan
Sage?
EH?
NM?
Plus we can add to our group once we hit 10.

Thanks for following up, iSm. I was just coming in to update that, alas, budget does not permit us to host the outing, but I would very much like to go later this year, if everyone is willing to wait until later.
Of course, this leaves me without a birthday activity. If anyone else wants to hang out next Saturday (and has budget-conscious ideas of what to do) I would love to do something to celebrate. Maybe a picnic or something?

Picnic at Lake Balboa Park! You can Red Line to the Orange Line to Balboa Station if you don't want to do a long drive.
I've heard it's a good place to take pictures, too. They've got nice places to walk and all kinds of birds and squirrels and bunnies to spot.
That's kind of where I'll be celebrating my birthday, too.

I think we've figured out a plan!
We're going to picnic at Descanso Gardens around noon on Saturday 3/12, followed by an afternoon exploring the gardens. Bring sketchbooks, journals, reading materials if you wish, as we'd like to do a little creative work while there. It'd be nice to just sit and talk with friends, as well. Afterward we'll head to a tasty but reasonably-priced restaurant, yet to be determined.
Come for part or all! We hope you'll join us. And we hope to host the Accomplice outing later this year.

I have my first craft fair of the season that day in Anaheim. Our set-up starts at 1, so it looks like I am out. :( I've never been to Descano either.

From a comment thread found through google:
There is no picnicing inside Descanso Gardens, but there is a really nice picnic area to the right (west)of the main entrance road (look for the power lines). There is no charge and it's well shaded and doesn't get really hot. On the other hand, few of the spectacular plantings are visible.
We will go to the picnic area GD mentioned. LSPE and I might not get there until a few minutes past noon, but shouldn't be more than a few minutes late. At some point not yet determined, we will go into the gardens. Anyone who is arriving a little later can text us to see if we are still picnicking or have moved on. The gardens close at 5, at which point we will move on to dinner.

Sorry we'll miss you, those who can't make it.
We are looking forward to spending time with you who are coming! And if you're on the fence, I hope you'll drop in. The day is supposed to be sunny and beautiful, and it'll be a lovely day for a picnic!

We might be a little late - waiting for the sun, and running errands in the a.m.
Also, don't know about picnic. Outside picnic "areas" don't tempt me. So I guess we'll try to hook up with peeps inside the gardens.
