New series on IFC.....6 episodes were successful enough that they ordered 10 more.

In the very least, you should check out the music video:

I love Fred Armisen, and I love Kerry Brownstein. I was sold on them as a duo when they did a video for one of my favorite bands, Man Man. I was super sold on Portlandia when I saw that video, and again when I saw the Put A Bird On It.
BUT WE DON'T GET IFC :(
There's actually at on of stuff on IFC right now that I'd love to see, but can't justify the $6/month to add it to our cable lineup. Sigh, guess I'll wait for the DVD

IFC is tapping into my favorite comedy niches right now and it's pissing me off because I don't want to pay for a whole new tier on cable just to get the one channel.
But now I see there are lengthy clips of Comedy Death Ray (http://www.ifc.com/comedy-death-ray/) and Portlandia so maybe I'll be sated for now, even though Whitest Kids U Know (http://www.ifc.com/wkuk/) doesn't have anything on their page.
ETA - what GD said, plus more.

That's too bad......I didn't even know we had IFC until I went looking for Portlandia.
I love how they drop addresses into the conversations....it's always someplace in one of Portland's more wonderfully weird neighborhoods.

I watched an episode. It was hit and miss for me. Some of it was just weird, and not in a funny way. Maybe it would be funnier if I had ever been to Portland.

Totally agree....I mostly love it for the inside jokes but I can see how someone who's never been here would be a bit put off by that.

From what I've seen of it, I've spent enough time at various hipster outlets, venues, and cultural events that even if I miss a lot of the super-local stuff I still see a lot of familiarity.

We do have a surplus of douchebags though. Perhaps there are similarities.
I believe they're colocated in Roget's.

Don't have cable, but lived in Portland, I can imagine . . .

Hmm, one is basically arty intelligencia with elitist tendencies and the other is basically smirking machismo with bullying tendencies, so I don't think there's much crossover. Perhaps one could claim that they're both irritating but I guess I've chosen my side.

What am I if I exhibit Elitist Machismo tendencies?

What am I if I exhibit Elitist Machismo tendencies?Seems redundant to me...all machismo is elitist, though not all elitism is machismo.
