Whipped out a new painting this morning. Came across a picture on my hard drive and tossed it into the "inspiration" folder last night only to immediately pull it up this morning and work on it.

Normally I draw the basic lines in pencil on the canvas, but this was painted freehand instead, so total time on this piece was under 2 hours.

I should probably wait until I make the fixes I want to make before sharing this, but eh, what the hell. New painting:

Okay, I fixed the crap and added a signature. I've decided, after Orange Blossoms, that my new name is too freaking long to try to write in paint, so I've officially changed my painting signature.

Also added it to the Subs painting, which I'd likewise forgotten to sign (a frequent problem with me, haha). And yeah, I generally try to make it subtle.

Have you sold anything on Etsy? I have a friend that does well there with paintings, and you're every bit as good as her.

Not on etsy, no. But I was thinking of running some prints and maybe doing Long Beach artwalk. And thanks :)

Still working on the challenge of painting food. Not nearly the cakewalk I thought it would be. Having learned from Amuse Bouche that white backgrounds don't really work, I tried adding in color. Which is difficult because so many source photos have white backgrounds (tablecloths...)
So tonight I did two. Bought a 3-pack of very small canvas boards yesterday 5"x7", and did two of them tonight.
Lemon Souffle Cake

I'm not super thrilled with this one. The glass plate was a pain to do (albeit a challenge I wanted to pose to myself). And because the original background was white, I had to imagine the effect that a darker background would have. Oh, and I'd wanted a cream background but it came out beige. Meh.
The second one I was happier with.
Cupcake

These are just photos, taken indoors at night, so the colors aren't exact (I'll have to scan them later), but this one's definitely an improvement on the previous two.
So since I have one more from the 3-pack left, I think I'm going to stay in-theme with desserts and paint a slice of pie or something. Voila, a series.
We'll see. Not tonight.

I think those are amazing. The details on the plate and cupcake wrapper, Wow!

After cupcake dried, I got a proper scan of it, so you can see the color better

Also I just finished one. Since it's wet, this is a photo not a scan, so the color's not as bright as it'll look when I scan it. Plus, it's a bit... reflective. But anyway, I'm pretty pleased.

Ugh, note to self: stop painting things that are 1/2" larger than the scanning bed...
Anyway, now the color's a bit better
