Well the Disneyland Crowded Season is almost over ... and we're on the brink of Disneyland's Crazy Ultra Crowded Season, lasting a full nine months, that starts with Spring Break, goes directly into Summer, and then finishes off with those crowdactular unpleasers known as Halloweentime and Christmas!
Some of us are going to get in one last group meet while it's still merely Crowded Season - and you are invited to join us - (this coming) Sunday, March 20, 2011.
And just imagine the crowdedness of Crowded Season when The Wrong Park Little Mermaid Ride and Star Tours Twenty-Years-Later 2.0 goose the attendance at both parks in June! Won't Disneyland be FUN?!? :snap:
Also, on a personal note, my new boyfriend, Mark, hasn't been to Disneyland in 15 years! I'm so excited about showing him all the new stuff! Um, well, er, he hasn't been on Indiana Jones ... and, um, I guess Buzz Lightyear and, oh, the Sleeping Beauty Walk-thru will be new to him as well. He's never seen ANY of DCA, and some of it will not be walled-off this weekend!
Also, he's never seen Fantasmic or World of Color or emasculated Remember. So he and I will be taking in some of those shows, and all are welcome.
We're gonna be hitting the park Saturday Night, too. Probably do World of Color and Gay Club Remix dance that night. Fireworks and Fantasmic on Sunday, would be my guess. For anyone interested.
Plus - they're absolutely, positively getting rid of Lover Seating on the Matterhorn Bobsleds very soon - so if you want to have one last ride with your sweetie as a beloved 52-year-old dating tradition ends, this might be your shot.
PLeaSE JoIN Us - Sunday, March 20 and/or Saturday March 19 for the BeaT SPrinG MaDNess mEEt and one of the last less-crowded weekends at Disneyland until Twenty Twelve.

If last weekend was indication - it's already spring madness. We stopped at the park on our way home Saturday night and it was packed. Crazy busy. Of course that never stops us :)

We'll be at the park with some old friends visiting from out of town. No doubt we'll at least say hi.

Is that beatnik day at the park?

Is that beatnik day at the park?
That's what I thought at first. Also, perhaps it's the tone of his post, but ISM makes all the attractions he lists sound extremely gay.
And perhaps they are.

Well, the danceable Gay Club Remix played during the Please-Leave segment of World of Color is arguably the highlight of that show.
And, yeah, when the wild-west Frontierland segment and other parts are snipped from performances of Remember, I don't know a term that describes it better than "emasculated." But that's not to say it's gay. If you think those two words are related, I suggest you seek enlightenment.
As for the Matterhorn snuggle coming to an end after 52 years - I suggest that's a blow to the straight dating population far in excess of its damage to the gay population.
Regardless, I like the idea of Beatnik Day - so if it's not, we should make it so!

Not that I think weather forecasts are good for anything other than looking out the window and predicting climate for the next 10 minutes - - but current forecasts are predicting a good chance of rain this coming weekend.
For any of those interested in attending, would a rainy day at Disneyland make it more or less likely for you to join in?

My timing is always off.
I was at the park Wednesday afternoon/early evening and it was already spring break hours and spring break crowds. I'll be there tonight to dance (Stompy Jones brought the rain again in case you're wondering who to blame) but need to stick around home tomorrow.
Have fun!

Was nice seeing the hubbers briefly! Sorry we couldn't hang out for wet n wild madness. We bailed on the out-of-towners we were seeing before the really bad stuff showed up.

If you've never done Screamin in the Rain, you must at least do it once

Why was someone allowed to throw rocks at people riding Screamin'?
CoasterMatt
03-21-2011, 12:05 AM
Screamin' in the rain is nothing- try being launched to 100mph when it's 35 degrees out, and you can't wear a jacket because they're filming for "sunny" california.
Or riding a standup coaster in the hail repeatedly, not being allowed to leave the train, because the cameras are rolling and they want full trains.

Oh yeah? Well in my day they nailed you into the seat, poured scalding coffee in your lap, and dropped you on your head from 200 feet without an ambulance. And we were grateful! LOL... :p

Fun Galore at Disneyland this past weekend. Was so nice to see everyone who made it, even if for a little bit.
It was so rad to have an old school Grand Cal AP Loungeathon. Mark really liked that, and I was so happy to share that with him - as well as to reintroduce him to Disneyland after a 15-year absence. He missed only one major new attraction in all that time, and so he loved riding on Indiana Jones. (We turned in a child's cellphone case found in the queue to a CM, and she rewarded our kindness with passes that allowed us to switch mid-stream to the fastpass line. Yay.)
Sunday's torrential downpour that started mid-ride on California Screamin' was So.Much.Fun. I laughed uncontrollably through the entire last half of that ride. (But, yeah, seconds was unwise in retrospect).
I'm glad Mark decided to get an AP - it really took the pressure off getting on ALL the rides. As it was, we had a beautiful weather mucho ride day on Saturday, and there are only a couple of major attractions to share with him in the future - plus plenty of minor pleasures, romantic date nights, and hopefully group meets in his AP future.
Saturday night was a blur of rad, as I introduced Mark to Remember (abridged) fireworks, Fantasmic (a little far back and to the side, but with zero wait), and my patented Space Mountain Rainbow Glasses LSD Nitrous Oxide spectacular 3 minutes!
Having a hotel room in town was wonderful. Don't get to do that too often. I guess now that my boyfriend has an AP, I'll be visiting the Resort a little more than expected this year. First order of business will be convincing him there's decent food to be had in Downtown Disney (our first visit to Jazz Kitchen was an uncharacteristic fail). I suppose second order of business will be Gay Club Remix sometime soon!

Kevy I spent years camping for several weeks a year, in desserts and mountains, in the rain, sleet, snow and 100 degree temperatures, wearing a corset and full length skirt, made my own tent, knitted chainmail and fed 30 people dinner every night, with nothing but a campfire.
I did my time now I want my pleasures

It really was the highlight of the day! The first time.
I enjoyed lounging and, in a sick way, enjoyed the looks of horror on the "neighbor's" faces as our group just kept getting larger, and larger, and larger, and more chairs were brought over. And then they left. Oops.
Now, if only Audra could get a good glass of wine there.......

Dang. Sounds like I missed the social event of the year.
Nah. Got to spend the day outside in the freezing sideways rain trying to sell cheez. That's fun enough for me.

Well ... GD and CP (and offspring) were there for a short while ... so, yes, that means it does qualify for Social Event of the Year.

Oooh, I wanna camp in dessert! Can you pitch a tent on a strawberry shortcake? Or is that honor exclusive to Le Cellier's Maple Creme Brulee?
(Yes, the innuendo was intended. Nom.)
