A rally is being held to protest a fundraiser dinner being held at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel by the anti-gay Pacific Justice Institute (PJI), (which, of course, has nothing to do with justice) and its co-sponsor, “Focus on the Family. Both orgs purport to uphold family values while actually propagating hateful messages that negatively affect the LGBTQ community. Both have a proven track record of opposing equality and justice for all LGBTQ families and individuals.

Saturday, April 2: 4:00-7:00 PM – Anaheim, The Grand California Hotel on Public Sidewalk - 1600 S. Disneyland Dr., to “welcome” the attendees of the fundraiser as they arrive for the event, (with registration opening at 4:45pm and VIP reception at 5pm).

Inside the hotel the keynote speaker for PJI’s event will be Dick Morris--a person notorious for his antigay rhetoric... and biased commentary on Fox News. Focus on the Family is sponsoring the evening cocktail hour and will have Steve Jordahl as a representative of an organization that is categorized as a hate group. For more information on the Gala honoring these homophobes please see: http://www.pacificjustice.org/events/celebration-justice

We will respectfully demonstrate against The Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) and Focus on Family as they are a source of great pain to all LGBT Families and their allies. For example, the PJI sued a school in the Castro Valley because the school allowed a gay minister to come speak to some classes about her struggles with coming out PJI and Focus on the Family our values as a community united against discrimination and working for Equality.

Wish we didn't have other plans - I've never engaged in a protest rally and this is one I would consider strongly.

The weather cooled off nicely today so I might be there. Anyone else?

I have a prior commitment in HB but I'm bringing my sign just in case I can.

Ugh, we're going to be at the Park tomorrow. Too bad I didn't know about this earlier, or I would have tried to rework my weekend, but impossible now.

Bah, I loves me a good gay vs. anti-gay conflict at Disneyland. Cheese is sad I'll be missing it.

I'm kind of surprised they would pick Disney as a venue for this after the failed boycott and their continued practice of offering benefits to gay domestic partners.

I walked by - it seemed to be kind of a non-event. They did have the back doors open to the venue behind Jazz Kitchen and all kinds of cast members in suits along downtown disney.

In the front of the hotel there were maybe 30ish protesters. All very polite holding up sings. Anaheim police had a car parked there and as you walked toward the Grand Cal there was all kinds of security but as far as I could tell the only protesters were on public property on the street. Inside it was just a bunch dressed up old peeps, some carrying bibles. There didn't seem to be a lot of people but they may have already arrived when I walked by.
