For the life of me, I can't figure out how to do this. Maybe you can't on the mobile version?

I have downloaded a .kml file from the San Bernardino forest of campgrounds and roards in the area. You use this file for google earth.

I have google earth on my phone and would like to have the data there when we go off roading so that the forest service roads are now labeled - a big help.

I've put the file on my phone via bluetooth and I can see it in the bluetooth exchange folder. I've opened up google earth on the phone and searched for an import or something similar but don't see one. Clicking on the file in the bluetooth folder does nothing.

Any ideas?

Haven't tried myself, but I found this:

Thanks!

I was able to see the map in the example on my phone. I uploaded the us forest service kml file and thought all would be well. Unfortunatley it says it can't display due to errors in file.

Oh well.

I think the phone apps don't support all of the features that can be in a kml file, so you'd probably have to figure out what is and isn't supported and edit stuff out of the file.

I'm not sure you would want to run google earth on your phone up there anyway. You would lose your maps whenever you lost cell phone coverage. Why don't you download the PDF of the Motor Vehicle Use Map?

I can use google maps the whole way. cell phone ends but the gps stays. As long as it has the map in place already, I can watch our progress and figure out what road we're on even when it's not marked. (some are and some aren't.)

The map is great - dont get me wrong. We've got a bunch of maps and off roading books with road descriptions, etc. I'm just a bad navigator and need all the help I can get. (oops - I think we passed it... yeah... a few miles back. turn around...)
