I objected when Ted Turner colorized the past and I object to the Charles W. Cushman Collection colorizing the past.

If god intended pre-1950 to be in color he would have done it that way.

I always found it hard to accept Lucille Ball in color, having first grown accustomed to her as a black and white redhead.

They're not colorized.

But Charles Weever Cushman’s pictures are even more impressive today, as they were taken on pricey colour Kodachrome and look far more recent than they actually are.

It makes it all look less depressing than it would have in black and white.

I know. I was making a joke. That the real world prior to 1950 was black and white and therefore any color photos from before then must, ipso facto, be colorized.

I was actually suprised by the variety of car colors. For some reason, I was still expecting them to be all black. I just never think of cars of that vintage being in any other color.

I was just at Trinity Church on Wall street yesterday morning. I'm writing this from Union Square. A lot of the lower East side looks pretty much the same, with newer cars and lots of cel phones.

Those were great pictures! The fact that they were done in the rare color format does make them seem much newer than 1942. My brain says "why are all of those people wearing clothes and hair styles from the early 1940's?"

I got your joke, Alex. It was quite funny!

The one of the boy with the little girl on his back seriously looks like it was taken last week.

I'm really fond of this one, not only for the view, but the wicked car.
