Universal announced that the Wizarding world of Harry Potter is coming to Universal Studios Hollywood.

Sort of.

Technically what they said was that whatever they are doing will fit inside the current park boundaries and will include the Forbidden Journey attraction.

That's it.

So here is the Orlando version to the same scale as Hollywood. I'll leave it up to you to decide where and how much USH will get.

@CoasterMatt (carrying over a twitter conversation)

Who are "The Neighbors" and what type of say do they have in what gets built inside the existing park boundaries?

EDITED to add: These guys? (http://www.laneighbors.org/PDF/Universal-StudioCityNC.pdf)

From an LA Times article on the matter (http://www.latimes.com/travel/deals/themeparks/la-trb-wizarding-world-harry-potter-universal-studios-12201106,1,4501346.story):Universal's 20-year vision plan calls for the replacement of the Terminator 2: 3D attraction and the Water World stunt show. And then there's always the possibility of taking over a part of the studio back lot.Damn, I need to get to USH to see these two attractions; they are two of my favorites.

Here in Florida, JAWS The Ride will be closing on January 2nd 2012. I don't know what will take its place. I do know I'll be making at leat a couple of visits before then.

Given the tiny footprint of our Wizarding World, it seems like USH could manage a reasonable chunk of it. That said, I hope rumors of the Florida Potter expanding are true. It needs more elbow room big time.

According to the announcement today, they will be replacing Jaws with Potter stuff. According to Internet rumors it will be based on London and the train station and include an indoor ride based on the Gringots rail cars.

So Potter will be in both parks? (Or span the two?) That seems odd. But, could be cool, if the rumors are true. (That Gringot's sequence in the final movie was sure screaming out "I'm a theme park ride!")

My guess would be from Waterworld to the Gibson as the spot for Potter.
