As the song goes...

I'm actually at loose ends, what with this year's baconalia being pre-empted by, you know, life. So I'm trolling for ideas. Or an invitation. Either way.

But I'm curious, how will you be spending New Year's Eve?

Yes, NYE has thrown the LoT for a loop starting this year, huh?

In fact, due to the dearth of plans that seems to be affecting nearly everyone I know, my friends whose parents live at El Mio are having a NYE thing there. It's going to be very low key and likely pathetic. I don't think I'll even stay till midnight - but it's also the replacement for that group's holiday party (which, similar to a certain NYE party, also stopped happening this year after a decade of guaranteed fun). So there's gonna be our Xmas gift exchange at this New Year's party - and I expect a lot of people to leave after that.

Beaumark and I may troll around West Hollywood later in the evening / early in the morning technically. The Boulevard should be fun.

Contemplating spending a quiet evening at Disneyland, but that is not set in stone.

We HAD been hoping to take the opportunity to finally see a show with one of the many comedians we've been obsessed with lately...but they all must be having some private awesome comedians' party somewhere because none of them have any shows listed and the theaters they regularly play at are all dark that night. :(

So as of now, we have no plans. And we'd better make some seeing as we have grandparental babysitting lined up.

He needs to have a son and name him Sam.

Maddie's having her Super Sweet 16/New Years Eve party. So I've got 10 14-16 year olds coming over and it's Super Hero Themed. They should have a blast - I will need a nap.

Twist my arm. ;)

I think the theme of our party is "let's forget we are in our mid 30s instead of our early 20s".

You trade US in for dogs? Sheesh, I didn't think we were that bad! ;)

I do think the quote that sums up 10 years of slumber parties was from last year:

sh*t, that's A____! I have to put on my pants!

Things are getting tighter financially the longer Ryan is out of work, so our plans are to visit a museum of some kind during the day and in the evening sit around eating leftovers and wishing it was midnight already so we could go to bed.

Ok, there's no way it's been 10 years or 9 years. Maybe 8.

I thought the first party was in 2001. We made jokes about having enough food for a week if something horrible happened. Though the earliest photos I have are labeled 2003. Lisa's quiet steak dinner was in 2004.

You may be right.

We always stay home, as New Years Eve in Spokane is also known as Amateur Night and is probably the biggest fund raising event (in the form of issuing DUI's and citations) for the Spokane Police Department. We are having crab, steamers, asparagus and baked potatoes for dinner, then it's various forms of alcohol (I'm thinking tequila slammers pour moi) and playing board games and the Kinect with the Girl.

Now that my home is teen free, I'm sitting down with a nice glass of champagne. Then I need a very long nap.

Well that was unexpectedly nuts. Ended up tagging along with CP's brother and his friends. One lives walking distance from the North Hollywood metro stop, so we hung out as his place getting drunk, hit the metro (free all night) around 11, took it to universal, walked up the hill, saw the fireworks, got crushed by the crowd for about 10 minutes, found out that everywhere that sells booze except for a couple clubs closed at midnight, walked down the other side of the hill, grabbed some In'n'Out, caught the last metro out, and called it a night.

Nutty but tons of fun. And kinda blew my mind to get on a subway in the Valley (not the first time I've ridden the Metro in LA, but the first time entering a station in the valley).

I love the red line! We usually park at the Universal stop and take it down into LA.

Champagne? I would have reached for something a bit stronger, next time drop a jigger of cognac in that flute and make it a champagne cocktail.
