I'm taking on a little web project from an old co-worker. His old host, a friend with hosting on godaddy, seems to be holding his website, somewhat, hostage, until he pays for another year of hosting for a hundred, or so, dollars, as well as charge him more than he wants to pay to upload a few photos.
I checked out the domain account (also with godaddy) which is in the friend's name, and see he has free hosting available (so no need to pay for hosting at all for one thing) and we just need to set it up and transfer the files.
Godaddy will not assist in any file transfer between the accounts. My friend does not have any backup of the website.
I see some non-professional looking sites offering to save websites - but what I'd really like is a recommendation from someone if you've had need for this.
What things am I going to miss doing this? There is no database stuff involved - some javascript photo display and CSS stuff. I haven't done a lot of web design other than fairly simple stuff for the last few years and I'm more of a photoshop/dreamweaver designer than a code person. (but I can find scripts, copy and paste and make things work that way.)
