Survivor One world, or one beach, or one something, I'm fairly sure it has "one" in the title starts tonight.
Don't miss it like I did unless you don't care in which case it's OK.

It's been said before, but it bears repeating... If you are selected to go on Survivor you really should learn how to make fire before you leave for the island.
On day one, being the only person on your tribe to flirt with the opposing tribe is not a winning strategy.
In a tribe of nine, four is not a majority.
Damn girls, get it together.

Has anybody actually died during Survivor? Because until those are the kind of odds we're talking, this show has no draw for me.

It always amazes me how little prep they do. You could at least google a few things. Maybe a little jaunt to REI?

Someone passed out face first into a fire.

I don't think REI would help. The survivors are very limited in what the can take, from what I have heard it's the clothes on their backs and one comfort item and there are very strict limits on what that "comfort" item can be. Bibles are OK, Swiss Army Knives not so much.

Right - but REI has books and experts from whom you could maybe find out things like edible plants, how to make a fire, etc.
Part of the "why don't they learn to make fire" thing could be a very short period of time between realizing you have a realistic chance of being on the show and actually being in the middle of the game.
I have no idea what the Survivor timeline is like but I did apply for The Amazing Race once and was surprised to learn there was only a couple weeks between learning you'd been selected for the show and the start for the race. If I'd been selected that period would have been awfully full just putting things in order for suddenly dropping out of my life for a month and a half.

Ugh. HATE the male/female split. Just like the stupid young/old split it brings out the absolute worst in people's stereotypes and egotism. As if any reality show needs to AMPLIFY that effect.

Well, that's it. They finally did it.
We quit about 3 episodes in. I had sworn I was going to stick with Survivor until the show was cancelled, I was determined to see the entire thing until it died. But this men vs. women thing, unsurprisingly, just took whatever shred of watchability was left and crushed the life out of it.
Bye bye Survivor, it was a (mostly) fun decade+

Fyi, last week they merged. No more guy vs girl.
Also, I hope you did not miss the "first time in survivor history" tribel two weeks back

Tonight they aired the episode where the winning team chose to go to tribal based on the wishes of the Evil Queen.
Colton is not a pleasant or appropriate ambassador for gay people, and we are disgusted by him. Stoat wants me to tell you he is a dickwad.
We have made the decision to look up the internet to see if he has been voted off yet, and we intend not to watch the series until he is voted out, because the show is supposed to be entertaining, not aggravating. Our blood pressure went up so high during the show tonight.
He is doing Gays a LOT of damage. also people from Alabama (unless they are all like that)
ETA: Just checked and we will be continuing to watch the series seeing as how he is medically removed in 2 episodes time (our time). Good.

Karma bitch.
At the reunion show he did not do much to repair his image.
The next season of Survivor (Minor spoiler)
Next season of Survivor features the return of survivors that had to leave the game early for medical reasons. Happily Colton does not seem to be among them.
