There's a whole backstory involving a failed furniture store center, food trucks, and an influx of hipsters.

But long story short, the SouthCoast Collection is fast becoming a pretty cool little place, anchored by the "OC Mart Mix", a kind of hipster swap meet that includes a bunch of specialty boutique stores, a wind and olive bar, a cheese shop, and a full-of-itself coffee bar with tasty paninis. Also in the center is a bakery with a nice selection of specialty teas, yummy cookies, and really spectacular cakes (http://www.letthemeatcake.net/weddings_SE)!

There's a crunchy baby toys boutique, sushi restaurant, still a few furniture stores, a couple more restaurants on the way, and a new branch of the Chuck Jones Creativity Center opening soon.

I love seeing new interesting places like this grow, can't wait to try its various offerings.

Oh, that's the center the Paul Mitchell School moved to, isn't it?

That's the one. You do end up in line behind a lot of people wearing all black sporting weird hair styles if you go to eat there.

Is that in the furniture center that is impossible to find?

Is that in the furniture center that is impossible to find?Yup, hence the failure of many of the furniture stores.

However, when food trucks start showing up somewhere and tweeting about it, people WILL find their way in.

a wind and olive bar

A wind bar? No, thanks. (I'm picturing a highly unfortunate variation of the oxygen bar)

The furniture store should have had food trucks.
