I have to teach a how-to session on "Googleing" next week.
Anyone have any favorite trips or tricks for searching with Google?

Google image search comes in handy from time to time. Right click on an image that's online and do a google image search for it. Shows you similar photos too.

I use the calculations thing a lot too. Type a math problem into the search bar instead of getting out a calculator.

And don't forget to turn SafeSearch off to get any sort of useful results.

I wish it was better at converting things like volume to weight. Flour for example - convert 1 cup of flour to ounces.
Yes - it takes me to a website that does it - but I want it to do it all on it's own.

I have a nifty mickey shaped magnet that I got at Disney world that has all those conversions. Cups/teaspoons/tablespoons/ozs/ml. We count carbs for the kiddo so it's a super handy tool.

But it doesn't work for baking. i.e. 1 cup of flour doesn't weigh what 1 cup of sugar does.
When it comes to baking breads and cakes, I've found weighing so much easier and more accurate. I just have to convert a lot of recipes first. Although America's Test Kitchen has started to include weights in all their baking recipes after I requested it on their Facebook page - which did make me happy... whether it was me that did it or not.

I'd be sure to point out the options on the left (e.g., in a "News" search, the options to limit to just blog results, or show only results from the last hour, and to sort by date instead of relevance.).

I also love the new-ish "search by image" option.
