The book is labeled as Young Adult, and is aimed at thoughtful readers 12 and up. I suspect it will mean more to grown-ups than to younger readers, though I hope a broad age range will enjoy it.

I've been getting a lot of cannibal and zombie jokes, and because the front cover has a reindeer on it, many have asked if the deer gets eaten. No. Venison is not on the menu, and horror buffs will be severely disappointed. Maybe for the sequel, though.

Ahh, yeah I could see that connection, "secret feast" venison. I wonder if flying reindeer rump roast tastes different than normal reindeer rump roast.

Yes, but it will take a while longer.

The print edition came online TODAY! (Only at the publisher, but check it out (http://bookstore.iuniverse.com/Products/SKU-000542946/The-Secret-Feast-of-Father-Christmas.aspx).)

It's posted to Amazon, but the cover image isn't up and it says 'temporarily out of stock.' I'm told it may take a week or two for the major online stores.

But if you are going for the print edition, I make a slightly bigger cut if you buy from iUniverse. :)

E-book should be along in two or three weeks. (Or, I hope, even sooner. Things have progressed a little faster than what I was told, so here's hoping.)

Last night, I had my first public book signing, during my hometown's Christmas tree lighting celebration. It went great. I sold a decent sized stack of books, and met a lot of interesting people, including several other local authors.

That's wonderful to hear! As it takes place in New Zealand, I sometimes fantasize that I'll get a call from Peter Jackson someday. (It would be a much smaller scale movie than The Hobbit, though, and would not lend itself to being stretched to three installments.)

Once you get a chance to get your hands on it, I can't wait to hear what you think. And if you or your son are so inclined, by all means post a review at Amazon! I got my first five-star review there a couple of weeks ago. It was from my Mom. :D

I've had it on my kindle for months now and just remembered it this weekend. I think I'm only about a 1/4 the way through but loving it so far.

I've been unable to figure out how to disable that option. But, an author friend of mine did the same thing last year, and his sales more than doubled. He looked at it as comparable to a Creative Commons agreement. As long as no one tries to profit from it, he feels this expands his readership, and that can only be a good thing.

There is no question that this is a newbie experiment on my part. Risk nothing, always wonder.

My Mom reads 50 books a month usually, sounds like they would throw out her reviews. I will review the book when I finish it, kid too.
