This would be great if they would bring back the parkhopper with more days on it. When I am in Anaheim I usually will go to DL/DCA more than the 5 days they currently have passes for.

This is really going to piss off families with teens and larger groups. Having to keep track of which kid/person has which physical pass over multiple days will be a pain.

Easy just write their names on the ticket. That was what they were having them do before.

Not all guests, just multi-day ticket holders. But still, really?? Why bother with all of this for a handfull of multi-day tickets? I think it casts Disney in a bad light. They sell more tickets to those who could not afford to go otherwise, IMHO. I would never chance such a riskey buisness venture myself. I'd be worried that I'd spend all of that money, get my family to the gates, and have a big dissapointment.

And to an extent that may be all that Disney needs. It need not be a consistent or sustained effort. But if Disney can get the word out that there is a real non-zero chance that you show up and get embarrassed (and don't get in) then many people won't risk it.

The publicity is probably more powerful to stop it than the policy.

The article makes it seem like this is a recent implementation. I know there have been signs in front of DL and DCA for a few months directing multi-day pass holders to enter through specific gates. It sounds like they have been experimenting with this for a while.

They were just having people sign the tickets (and they used to do that years ago). You had to sign your ticket then show ID every time you entered after that. I think the problem was kids don't have ID so still easy to get around. Honest I think once they get the kinks worked out it really won't jack things up much. Half the time you're behind someone who has bad tickets and has to wait for a lead anyway.

Unfortunately I do not get down to Disney that often. I go for about a week every 3 to 4 years. An Annual pass would not do the job. I would either have to deal with blackouts or the high cost of the top ticket. The 6 or 7 day hoppers were the best for me and my family.

The So Cal Select pass is only $9 more than the 5-day Park Hopper. I know that blackout dates would become a problem, but otherwise not sure where a 6 or 7 day Park Hopper would be an advantage.

I think the answer there is you upgrade on the last day of the park hopper (and hope your last couple days aren't blocked)

To update on the OT: when we came in tonight (Susan's B-Day dinner at Cafe Orleans: she wanted Monte Cristo), there were several CMs right at the entrance gates with small hand devices (looked like smart phones, but didn't look that closely) taking pictures of people with multi-passes. It was causing some
confusion, but I don't see how it could be causing big delays (it was a different person taking the picture than was taking tickets).

The Times article talks about ticket brokers who sell individual days of multi-day passes to different people. My son works Main Entrance and he has to deal with people who come with partially used park hoppers they bought on Craig's List and he gets to tell them the tickets are no good. I'll have to ask him what's the difference.

I think the only difference between buying a ticket on CraigsList and buying from a ticket broker who's renting it out is who gets the money. Either way, you're buying a ticket that someone else used and you're violating Disney's rules. I'm sorry your son has to disappoint so many people, that can't be fun.

But he's not from SoCal so the cheapest pass he can get is a Deluxe at $469.

While it would technically be fudging the rules, I am sure he could find someone to get him the ticket. Can't say how well this works though since I am in So Cal.
