The AP article (http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory/disneys-aladdin-sweep-broadway-18288926) doesn't mention the theme park version. curious...

Maybe because the Park version, though it's been playing for a decade, left me completely cold (and I never saw it beyond that one time, about a decade ago!)
I just saw the DCA version for the first time ever last month. I slept through most of it.

In other Disney theater news, Philip Glass has a new opera called "The Perfect American" about Walt Disney - the myth, the artist, and the man. It's playing in Madrid now, and moves to London in June. Will it play L.A.? Um, it needs to.

Steve & Alex: you might be pleased to know the DCA show might be getting the axe in a couple months. Tech people were told unless the flying carpet is repaired by the end of March, Disney is cancelling the show.
I'm not pleased about the show specifically, but I do wish they'd put shows on a hard time limit regardless of how good an individual one might be. As much as I like Fantasmic, I'd still prefer it had been a five year deal and then gone away in favor of trying something else (which inevitably would have been worse, but I'll take trying something new over re-experiencing the same brilliant thing).
But who knows how long it would be until I saw whatever they put in there next. The last time I'd been inside that theater was the night Kelsey Grammar fell off the stage for the 50th Anniversary kickoff and the time before that was for whatever the first show in there was when the park opened was (which I can't remember).

Thanks, Isaac. I'm with Alex in this - as good as something is, please don't have it play forever. That's true of Fantasmic. It's true of most Vegas Cirque shows. Forever is a long time, and even the best thing gets dull.
Obviously, I never got the appeal of Aladdin, the Musical. But I guess it had its charms.

Really? I love the Aladdin show. I've seen it a zillion times and will continue to see it when I can.
