I picked up a Slingbox 350 (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2411422,00.asp) this week and my initial review is Hell Yeah! I should have nabbed me one of these years ago. Smoothest setup I've ever seen.

So what does it do? In short it re-broadcasts my home cable service over the Internet so I can watch any live or DVR'ed TV show via the Internet using my phone, tablet or whatever PC I happen to be using.

Nirvanaman has had one of these forever. Seems to come in handy. Now that GD is traveling a lot this might be good though we watch mostly Netflix streaming at the moment.

Glad to hear your positive review of this, Moonie. After I get Sonos (http://www.sonos.com) set up the way I want, a Slingbox will probably be my next step.

Ooh! I looked into options for whole house music (including Sonos) then in a moment of clarity I remembered I have teens living at home and no good could come from that combination....

I'll revisit the topic in another year or so once I become an empty nester.

Grand St. (http://grandst.com) is selling the Slingbox 500 for $300. Is that a good deal? I like the concept of it, but haven't taken the step to do any sort of Roku/slingbox/Apple TV thing yet. They all still seem a bit of a mystery to me.

Amazon has it for $298 so I'd say it's nothing special. Plus the one I have (Slingbox 350) is only $178.00 and probably does what you would want it to.

On a side note, I used Slingbox to watch the Nationals season opener yesterday and it worked beautifully!
