Am I the only one who finds this hysterical? The west end of Downtown Disney decimated for nothing! Rainforest, EPSN, AMC and, oh yeah, the Earl of Sandwich all closed down and now sitting empty so that ground could be broken on the new Disneyland Resort luxury hotel to be built where those once stood.

Except ... maybe not. The 273 million dollars in tax subsidies (forgiveness of resort taxes paid to the city for the hotel's first 20 years) were for a hotel constructed in the boondocks of the Resort's northernmost parking lot. Now that it's moved to INSIDE Downtown Disney, the city says the deal no longer applies.

Disney may not want to build the hotel after-all, since it boils everything down to dollars but not enough to sense.

Since Disneyland has essentially priced me out, I rather like the idea of that end of Downtown Disney sitting empty for a decade or so while corporate figures this out.

I saw this, I'm just assuming it's kind of corporate wrangling that will get worked out in fairly short order.

Time will tell.

A game of corporate Chicken is about right. I'm priced out of Disneyland, too, so it doesn't affect me directly but I will miss ESPN Zone. They had great burgers.
