Help! I posted this at MP, but I'd also like anyone's input that I can get. Accurate info is key. ;)

I'll be going to Disneyland July 15th-July 19th this summer. The 16th and 17th are black-out dates for DAPs.

I was thinking of buying a 3-day park hopper for $139 and upgrading to a Deluxe AP on the third day (17th), because I've read time and again that you can buy a DAP on a black-out date.

A DAP is $209.

Questions:

1. What can I expect to re-coup from my original $139 3-day park hopper when I upgrade?

2. Is it one-third of the $139 since I'm upgrading on the third day? Or way less because it's "discounted" according to Disney's way of thinking?

3. Should I just buy the PAP for $329 and not worry about it? (We'll be down again in December for 5+ days, so I'll get some use out of it, plus the discounts, but the days we'll be there in Dec. are not DAP black out days, so I don't necessarily need a PAP.)

4. Also, when you buy an AP, when is the expiration? For example, if I purchase on 7/17/05, is the expiration 7/17/06? Or a day sooner? (I'm thinking about 2006....will I want to come down next July to play? And if I do, will I want to buy single day passes when my AP expires? Ugh!)

My husband is reading over my shoulder and complaining right now.....

Help! My brain is fried.

I wanna know, too. I'm plotting a similiar move. I already have the ParkHopper pass for 4 days, and was planning on upgrading on the 18th, but if I could do so on the 17th, that would be cool.

Last I heard you pay the difference between the park hopper and the DAP which is $70. $209-$139 = $70. They pro-rate the expiration date to the first day of use of the park hopper. So if you use your park hopper for the first time on 7/15/05 and upgrade to the DAP on 7/17/05 your AP will expire on 7/15/06. If you don't do any sort of upgrade and just buy an AP on 7/17/05 it will expire on 7/17/06. If you buy an AP on a day it is blocked out you can use it that day (under normal circumstances... don't know if they'll change the rules for the 17th)

YES!!! PAP $329. Difference between PAP and 3-day park hopper is $190. I don't know how much a 5 day hopper is, but you should break even at the least, with the store, food and hotel discounts.

 209-139=70  Bwahahaha

From what I understand you pay the difference between the park hopper and the DAP which is $80. $209-$139 = $80.

I'm so mean!!

Thank you!!!

Edit: Also, the three day hopper is $139.....not $190, thank goodness!!!

Thank you!!!

Nah, not mean. I was correcting my typo as you were replying. Nice try though

The 3 day hopper is $139. The difference between the PAP and the 3-day hopper is $190. A 5 day hopper is $169. Unless you don't plan on buying anything during your Dec. trip I'm pretty sure you'll recoup that $21 in discounts.

Snort! Could I read a little more closely??? This is why I never correct people!!! :D

I'm having trouble with the stupid disneyland website.....I can't find an exact list of the PAP and DAP benefits/discounts. The only info I can find says that there are discounts and that certain restrictions apply. Verrrrrry helpful.

LP used to have a list of benefits in the Tickets section, but last time I checked they still had last year's ticket prices, so I don't know how current or accurate the list is.

Oh, and I have to fess up- I was going to correct BTD also, but then I am really tired and I wasn't sure I was adding correctly....so, I call my nine year old for verification and by the time I was going to post that, Claire had beaten me to it. Am I sad or what?

Don't forget that a PAP includes Parking. Deluxe does NOT include parking, so there's only a 30 dollar difference from Deluxe+Parking, and Premium. :)
