Summer officially starts today for us! Today was the last day of school...and while I'm still trying to convince myself that Bailey really will be in 5th grade next year...(I signed all his classmates beachballs "Good Luck in 4th grade!" Clearly in denial! ) our summer is wicked busy!
We have a week of baseball left (lovely in 100 plus degree weather~) and then a week of nothing! :D
Kat starts cheer practice, cheer camps and swim lessons. Bailey has football camp and swim lessons plus tumbling to strengthen his arm for football.
At the beginning of July, we're heading back to Texas! :D I'm staying for a week..the kids are staying for 3! Whoo hoo!
Romantic trip to Vegas with hubby for me (instead of weekend of debauchery with the girls at DL! :( ) and then a week at San Diego! Sea World (dining with Shamu, swim with the dolphins), Zoo, Wild Animal Park and the beach!
Then August 1...football starts and it's back to the grind!
So...what are you doing this summer???

Congrats on your first day of summer vacation -- woohoo! That means it's time for a Dazed and Confused viewing!
My summer plans:
~Hawaii for 2 weeks in August -- I'm really looking forward to it. It is just about 3 months away, maybe it could inspire me to get into bikini-wearing condition... .
~My nephews' swim meets.
~Hanging out (hopefully, not literally) at the pool barbecuing, sipping on margaritas and/or ice cold beers.
~Our county fair; which is still a really nice, clean and old-fashioned affair...ha!
~Relaxing in Tahoe. Just hanging out at the beach, my fave.
~Half Moon Bay, Stinson Beach, Muir Woods, San Francisco.
~Bike rides.
~A weekend up in the wine country for a wedding (although we leave for Hawaii the next day -- that should be interesting).
We are overdue for some bee-you-tiful weather up here in NorCal. We haven't really had a spring. I am soooo ready for summer!

The kids are out on June 14th! Latest ever in my experience. But it just means they'll end fairly nearish the beginning of June next year, and every year after it'll creep further into June again. Makes for a short summer this year though. :( Bah.
We're doing three weeks of swimming, then I go to Disneyland, come back, they have camp for two weeks (courtney has sleepaway for a week), and the day we pick her up is the weekend of my sister's 3-day wedding reception at McMenamin's Edgefield, and then it's August, which means soccer camp, weekends at the coast, soccer practice, school shopping.......and then school begins the Wed. after Labor Day again!
I'm pooped! Where did the summer go???

Summer is here...it's time for driving with the convertible down.
I've also spent the past week getting ready for summer camps.... and last night we took the teens to the beach for the first bonfire of the year (no swimming for me though....there were sewage runoff warning, ew!) Today I suckered my mom into buying me a backpack for Europe. :D
I take a class for a week every summer, this week it's at the end of June. Then of course I'll be at Disneyland the weekend of the 50th. After that I have two weeks of camps, then Vacation Bible School & then off to Europe for World Youth Day. Then it will be time for classes to begin again and I'll wonder why the hell the summer went so fast, not to mention why the hell I'm so tired!
I think I too shall celebrate by popping in the Dazed and Confused DVD. :D "The great thing about freshmen, is I keep gettin' older, and they stay the same age, man..."

Time for finding ways to beat the heat.
Today was 109 here in Phoenix, and Saturday and Sunday are looking at 113.
Swimming at grammy's house, swim lessons, weekend trips to Flagstaff, end of June to DL for a week (I always laugh when I hear people in the summer at DL talking about how hot it is!), finding indoor activities for the kids, playing in the sprinklers in the back yard.

Summer means my fun days of being paid to do hardly anything at work are over :(
But the tourists wear such fun outfits, that the people watching more than makes up for it :D

It was really rainy and kind of cold today, so I'm not quite there on the summer thing, but we do have plans.
First, Tori's dance recital, then a week later her 10th (!) birthday. July 16th, a little side trip down to Anaheim for some Geeky Festivus action, then just the family Leo's birthdays, then an Alaskan cruise!
Then, the bills will come due....

Around here, summer MORNINGS are for driving "topless" - summer afternoons you have to have the AC blasting!
(Ok, my third Southern Summer and I'm still not sure I'm ever going to get used to it, and it's only MAY! -- but I do like the spring and winter! - not so much fall 'cause of those pesky little named storms we can get)

I can't wait for summer.
I have some plans to travel down to SoCal to go to DL and to visit some friends.
B has swimming starting mid-June until mid-July.
Harry Potter comes out the day before DL's birthday and I plan to attend the Potter party with some equally fun and wonderful Potter Geeks (my first SoCal Potter Party!!)

Iif he was implying my weekend of romantic debauchery should be with the "girls"...Well, if it is with adult girls, I would be more than happy to chaperone y'all. Strictly observational: I don't need to participate.

For some reason, the allergens flying around here in NorCal are rampant. I can't go anywhere without sneezing up a storm and looking like I've been sobbing all day due to my red, itchy eyes and red (kleenex) nose.
Bleg.

I just finished the first half of my "summer vacation." Enjoyed some 90 degree weather -- now it's back to 60s and raining. Summer term starts on the 31st and then August brings our cruise to Alaska.
