Continuing my May conference tour, I'm currently in Chicago. Now I have come to love this city, and of course one of my many regrets right now is I'm here working and have to spend much more time with my boss than I'd have to in a real work day.

However, I must gloat a bit on my swanky score here. You see I waited to late to get booked into the conference hotel - so I had to stay someplace else. My boss is in the Double Tree around the corner from the conference. Me, I asked for the Sofitel - a French European hotel chain that oozes swank, contemporary franco-asian styling, loungy-techno soundtrack, leather and chrome. I also manged to score a corner room on the top floor. Of course, I'm paying dearly for this, but the same rate my boss is paying for his room at the douible tree.

So here are a few photos of my temporary Digs:
My room:

Another view of the room and my square chase:

My bathroom - yes the orchid is real:

And finally, the bathroom features a floor to ceiling window out to the city, so this is a view from the tub tonight:

I will definately come back here, and not on business so Not Afraid can come play with me.

So what are you doing later in June? How about July?

Oh, I should also mention that the bar here, as well as the Sofitel in Philadelphia serve "Sweaty Ass Crackers" with their cocktails. Perhpas we'll have to have a swanking at the Beverly Hills Sofitel and see if they do the same?

Schhhhh-wan-kaaaaaaY!! It kind of reminds me of a Kimpton hotel room. I really love those too. Hmmmm...but I don't see any rose petals strewn about the bed and room. Maybe you can throw some of those SA crackers around. And that way when you wake up hungry in the middle of the night, all you have to do is roll over for a snack.

The bathroom with a view is tres cool! :snap:

My husband is so sick of business travel. He just left for the airport to fly to NYC. He's taking care of business then turning around and coming home tomorrow. What a goofball! There goes my NYC trip.

Yup. That's about all the snack he's gonna get in the middle of the night until he gets home.

Well, that's what I was thinking. If you can't have an NA snack in the middle of the night, the SA crackers will have to do! :D

Wow that is nice! I've got a friend who moved there and wants me to come visit but I'm not sure I'm all that interested in going there. Everyone says it's a cool town though.

The swank continues - I ordered room service today for breakfest. I got an authentic continental breakfest, with real (not steriod induced) croissants, bread, French press coffee, fresh cut flowers - all delivered by French girl, well maybe she was Canadian, but the accent delighted me none-the-less.

Oh and Mistyisjafo - I've plenty of swank suggestions for this town.

Re: Sweaty ass cracker replacement for rose petals - rose petals are reserved for the Grand Californian - gotta plan another stay there...

Haven't seen Oprah, but we had lunch at wishbones, southern food, which is across the street from her studio.
