About 200 religious, labor and civil rights groups announced Wednesday that they are joining forces to try to defeat a proposed constitutional amendment that would take domestic-partner rights away from gay couples in California.

Members of the Equality for All coalition said they were acting even before the measure qualifies for the ballot because of what they termed the proposal's drastic implications for many kinds of nontraditional families, gay or straight.

......With Liberity and Justice FOR ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Equality? Bah, that's a 200 year old concept that, if you ask me, is well beyond its prime and should be discarded. [/sarcasm]

Yeah, there are people out there who feel the same way about other 200 year old concepts:
Discard the filibuster
Discard freedom of speech
Discard freedom of religion...
