Look at this list of closures and stuff for Disneyland's 50th. This would not be a good time for someone from out of state, who doesn't read the internet or for whatever reason is just plain clueless, to come and find out the prices have gone up and over half the Parks rides and attractions are closed. We know why, and we appreciate what they are doing because we know what's coming, but these poor folks, whew.

Then I have some questions after the list.

Current Refurbishments and Attraction Closures

Disneyland
Note: Disneyland is progressively refurbishing more and more attractions as
the park readies for its 50th anniversary celebration in 2005.

Aladdin's Oasis closed through March 11.
Plaza Pavilion closed through March 11.
Enchanted Tiki Room closed through March 11.
Space Mountain closed through November 2005.
Haunted Mansion closed through January 23 to remove Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay.
"it's a small world" closed through January 23 to remove the holiday
overlay.
Mickey's House closed through February 4.
Splash Mountain closed January 11 - 14; January 18 - March 17.
Disneyland Railroad closed January 11 - March 11.
Disneyland Railroad Tomorrowland station closed January 11 - May 3.
Mad Tea Party closed January 24 - February 10.
Mark Twain Riverboat closed February 7 - March 3.
Minnie's House closed February 7 - March 4.
Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln closed February 22 - April 15 to install the
50th Anniversary exhibit in the Main Street Opera House.
Mr. Toad closed February 28 - March 17.
Jungle Cruise closed February 28 - May 3.
Casey Jr. Circus Trains closed April 4 - May 4.
Storybook Land Canal Boats closed April 4 - May 4.
Honey I Shrunk the Audience closed April 18 - April 22.
Haunted Mansion closed September 6-29 to install Haunted Mansion Holiday
overlay.

Disney's California Adventure

Jumpin' Jellyfish reduced capacity January 21 - March 5.
Maliboomer reduced capacity (2 of 3 towers operating) through
January 22, 31 - March 12.
It's Tough to be a Bug! closed April 11 - April 11.

Note: Refurbishment schedules are estimates only. All information is subject
to change without notice. To get the most recent updates, call Disneyland at
(714) 781-7290.

Why is the train down for so long? Why is the Tomorrowland Station closed for longer than the train? Why is Jungle Cruise going down for so little time when they said so much was to be done? If the 50th Anniversary exhibit in the Mr. Lincoln building is finished on April 15th (tax day, how ironic) will it open then, or stay closed for 25 more days till May 5th? Is Mr. Lincoln coming back? I have heard rumors he is not.

Curious minds and busybody's want to know.

On my last visit, I saw Stinkin' Lincoln and the CM said he would return after a year or so...

So, will there be a "Farewell to Stinkin'" meet?

Perhaps you two groovsters should set those apples straight and collar a time and place for this little in-park shindig.

Sorry LB, it's called the off season. Plus, they're still catching up from the Pressler/Harris era. Put together, the list looks worse than it actually is, since some reopen in March and others close in April.

I have a strong feeling that MA(original) is going to be in DCA again. It makes me wonder what they can come up with for DL that day since so much will be closed (for both the "mega" and original-provided they do both).

But just think how nice and happy it's all gonna be!!

Fully Loaded, as in the very pistol of John Wilkes Booth? Varlet!

I think the title of the thread is misleading, if you look at what is closed for the 50th (which starts May 5th, 2005), you have just Space Mountain (opening sometime by November, maybe in August or September), and the closure of the Haunted Mansion for the overlay in September...

So yes, we have to go thru some pain right now for a pretty Disneyland when the party starts....

And as for the Tomorrowland Railroad Station, the rumor is that the entire structure will be replaced.

Wowza....it looks bad all listed out there like that.....but the down times will be staggered, as others have said. But there are still tons of visitors who don't check out the disneyland website (or don't think to look up the closures) and are shocked to visit DLR and see all the closures in person.

First off, the cats from the 'Pad have told us of their groovy mega competition which will include the entire Disneyland Resort. So they can't stick us in just one park.

Second, it depends on when they pull the gig. In the past it has varied from late March all the way to early May. As you can see from the list that period has lots of openings and closures, so there's no divining the real deal yet.

Oh, I know. And I know the mega was to include all, but they had also said they were going to maybe do just a regular one for those that had never competed before. That was the one I was talking about maybe being in DCA.

As for the dates, you're right, they could be anywhere in between that, but they have it tentative for March 13th. Wasn't this because of trips they had or something? I don't know. It was just a thought.
