Well free for the momemt anyway.
Microsoft has come out with a "Photoshop rival"

I don't see this hurting adobe or photoshop too much for several reasons
1, many users of photoshop use macs(no date for a mac release of this "photoshop rival")
2. Most professionals that use photoshop spent years learning photoshop, and are not willing to drop those years of practice to learn a new interface.
that's all I got right now, but those two, especially the last is quite significant. There is a reason(besides poor marketing) that the GIMP(Gnu Image Manipulation Program) hasn't replaced photoshop(and from what I hear, its a pretty powerful program, but I'm a photoshop user). Microsoft may catch the consumer market with this program, or maybe a few newbies, but the seasoned pro's will probably stick with photoshop.

Since I already own and use photoshop, there is no reason for me to want a free program I would have to learn all over. That might be different if I did not already have Photoshop though. Another thing to note is the huge number of photoshop tutorials available online. Want to make something look like chrome or fire or water - just look it up and step by step instructions for you name it! It makes continuing to learn photoshop very easy. I wonder what resources are available for the other program?

I don't see this hurting adobe or photoshop too much for several reasons...Given the resounding success of Microsoft Publisher in overtaking Quark XPress, I doubt Adobe is losing much sleep right now.
