When I log into LoT at work on my PC (using Firefox), it will properly display the last time I logged in (in today's example, it was 11:00-ish last night). However, when I click on the "New Posts" button (either of them), it gives me a message saying there are no new messages since my last visit. If I move forward, it will show my last visit as being the time I just logged in - 1 minute ago.

To find the latest messages since 11:00 last night, I had to do an advanced find of messages for the last 20 hours.

WTF is going on?!?

There is a disturbance in the force...

Is the work PC behind a firewall? This often happens to me at work - I think I have a lag time in my network that sometimes keeps me logged in indefinately even when I shut down.

Is the work PC behind a firewall? No.

What always strikes me as odd is that it is a normal log-in, showing the last time I signed in, but as soon as I try to see the "new posts" - bam: wiped out.

Maybe its the goddesses telling me I shouldn't be signing on at work.

No.

No? No Firewall? Sounds like new messages at LoT are the least of your worries.

It's a long shot, since I doubt it matters, but have you checked your PC's system time, date and time zone?

It actually deals with the weird NAT-ness of the IP addresses. Lot/MC use to do the same for me at school. The cookies like to bounce around, and log you in-out. Nice thing is that vB 3.5 uses the database to track read messages, so no more cookie issues. :)

3.5 is in Beta and on it's way. They're skipping right on pst 3.1-3.4 because there are some pretty significant architectural differences (but not going to 4.0 becaue the feature set and overall look remain largely the same).

FWIW,

Got the issue again. This time at home on my Mac (where I had been logeed inearlier and didn't log off - I never log off). Weird.

Also, I've always wondered how VB (I've seen this on other boards) can have more posts than views:

I also wonder why I care about such trivial shtuff

The host has been a little flakey lately. Sometimes after it's gone down, once it's come back up things like that get reset.
