Wow, the Jungle Cruise looks great. And freakin' huge (relatively speaking).

I can't wait until the entire Main Street is complete - that will be cool.

Flippyshark begins to drool. Must have them all....

I already have the castle, town hall and central plaza (y'know, the hub), but I just won't feel complete until I have the whole dang collection. It's gonna take a loooooong time!

I haven't purchased any of them yet, but I'm going to have to start. Grrr. I need more money! Miniatures v. an actual visit. I hate having to make that choice!

Wow, they keep adding stuff I must have. I better go back to school and learn a trade so I can get a real job and afford all of these things. Maybe the cats could get part time jobs and help out around here a little, as well. (No more free food or room and board guys!)

I hear there's going to be a Matterhorn. So should I be thankful or sad that I really don't have a place for this kind of thing?

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but rather than start a new one on the same subject, I thought I'd just add to this one.

For anyone who's interested, I've updated the Olszewski page with pictures of the Haunted Mansion piece and others, as well as information about and many changes in the upcoming release schedule.

Here's the link to the information from yesterday's release: http://www.colddeadfish.net/dlr/olszewski061805.html#february18.

Thanks for the report! I enjoy these pieces vicariously.

We were at DL on Saturday early afternoon and saw the table that the Main Street setup goes on sitting outside the Cinema. A few CMs were working on moving some other folded tables out from the Cinema. I don't know if they were using the Cinema as temporary storage or an alternate place to display the pieces during the rains.

He's there to sign on release days, and they usually have the signing in the back room of Disneyana, but this time, they had the signing inside the cinema. (They've done that with other signing events as well. Don't know if they'll be doing that from now on.) They also took the Haunted Mansion piece out of Disneyana and had it in there, all plugged in, for people to see. The signing tables may have been what you saw the CMs moving out.

Oh. My. Goodness.

I wasn't going to buy any of these miniatures, but... Peter Pan with interchangeable scenes? Well, at least it's in 2007 so I can start saving my pennies now.

I adore the pieces, but thankfully have no place to put them. It would set me back thousands to buy all the ones I desire.

Fortunately, having the pieces displayed at Disneyland makes them as accessible for me to admire as if they were in my own home. There's no need to buy (and have to constantly dust) that which I can see as often as I please ... and in the locale that the pieces are styled upon!! Can't be beat.

What a relief!

I aim to have all of them eventually, but it will take me a ong time. I just hope they stay available until I get around to it. I only have three buildings so far, and I adore them, but it may be a decade before I manage to collect 'em all. -sigh-

Cool, that makes sense.

I've always said that if I could buy only one piece it would be the hub. But eh, like iSm said, I see them all the time anyway.

I like your way of thinking! What a great way to assess the practicality of viewing and admiring the Olszewski miniatures frequently (for those who are able to visit Disneyland often)!

A helpful Cast Member at Disneyana offered this helpful suggestion: Since all the pieces are cumulatively too expensive to buy for most people, then one could just buy the one, two or three "favorite" attractions/buildings. For me at least, the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean--both with interchanged scenes--and the Matterhorn and old Disneyland sign will be too cool to pass up. Then, just use your imagination to fill-in the rest of the park...

I like my suggestion better ... based on the one above, but with this important addition: Everyone on LoT buys two or three of their favorite pieces, and we consult with each other so as not to double up. Then, quarterly, we all get together and assemble miniature Disneyland in its entirety ... have a big party ... then, for the kicker, we each take home different pieces than we had possession of during the last quarter.

That way, no one busts their budget; we each get a revolving display of different pieces to display in our homes; and four times a year all the pieces (and we) get together for a build-Disneyland festival.

That's a great idea. I have the castle, hub and Town Hall. Too bad I live on the other coast. (This means I can't use the "go see them at the park" method mentioned above. Thank God for cstephens' photo updates!)

Travis mentioned on Saturday that not all of the Main Street pieces will be available all the time (since demand for some of the buildings won't be continually high), but that availability of all the buildings will rotate so that from the time you decide to start collecting pieces (once they're all available), it should be about 3 years to complete the collection. That would probably work best for budget reasons as well. Signature pieces like the castle, Town Square, hub, major attractions should always be available.

I will purchase Jungle Cruise, Teacups and Main Street Station ... if we get enough people to go in on the plan.

Heck, I'll even pitch in on one Main Street Building, if we can get others to do that as well. If these are going "out of print," so to speak, we have to ensure that we can build the entire Park ... and make sure that we get the less "sexy" pieces as well as the icons.

Ok good a thread where we can openly discuss our addictions.

I'm using these as my Christmas "snow village". So far I've been working on the Main Street buildings. I added the train station and DL Electric train this year. While the train station is as amazing as the rest of the pieces, the train set pretty much blows.

The station sits up on it's base so you have the two tunnels, but there is no way to connect the train set to it (even if you take it off the base). Next year I'll have to build some type of ramp (berm?) to get the train to pull into the station. I'm looking forward to getting a close look at the main street display in April so I can see how they get around this issue. Plus get a lot of photos of the real thing to help in my set dressing...

The whole set looks pretty cool done up on a bed of fake snow for the holidays even if I do get some strange looks from folks about my SoCal snow set... :)

iSm is eeeeevil! What a bad influence on my spending agenda! I had decided that I do not need to purchase any of these things! Why the heck do I need these things???

<pant, pant>

Now I really, really want to join the party. Sigh.

Heheh, I don't need to purchase them either. As I said earlier, I'm more than content to see them at the Park, where I can adore them perhaps more often than I would at home (and where it's not my responsibility to keep them clean and shiney).

But I would totally join in a cooperative just to see Disneyland assembled in miniature a few times a year.

That's the train I was bitching about a couple of posts ago. It's not up to the quality of the buildings but so far nobody in my house has gotten cancer. Although there is this lump under my arm if anyone wants to have a look...

That's a pretty good discount. Thanks for the notice, cstephens!
Considering the PRICE LIST (http://www.register123.com/event/profile/web/index.cfm?PKwebID=0x41383b5e2&varPage=agenda), 25% off can equate to some big savings.

I'm becoming less and less impressed with each new piece. It started with the Jungle Cruise that was an impressionistic representation of the ride path, rather than a faithful reproduction, continued with the Mansion and Pirates with the clever but unsatisfying dioramas instead of a show building, and now seeing the Ariel's Grotto/Triton's Garden/Snow White's Wishing Well piece which is entirely inaccurate in layout and scale...feh.

This all may be a case of sour grapes, but the whole set is no longer drool-worthy in my estimation.
