Geez, is anyone still falling for this crap?

From my inbox today:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please can i have your attention for a moment? Would you like to work online from home and get paid weekly?
L & H LIMITED needs a book-keeper in the states, so I want to know if you will like to work online from home and get paid weekly without leaving or affecting your present job.

It's just that i presently run a textile and fabrics firm i inherited from my late Dad in the UK and we need someone to work for the company as a representative/book keeper in the states or canada. My company produces various clothing materials, batiks, assorted fabrics and traditional costumes, we have clients we supply weekly in the states.

My clients make payments for our supplies every week which are not readily cashable outside the U.S and Canada so we need someone in the States to work as our representative and assist us in processing the payments from our clients and would be paid weekly.

ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS RECEIVE THIS PAYMENTS FROM OUR CLIENTS IN THE STATES GET IT CASHED IN YOUR BANK THEN DEDUCT YOUR WEEKLY PAY AND FORWARD THE BALANCE TO THE COMPANY DOWN HERE VIA WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER SO ALL I NEED IS TO FOWARD YOUR INFORMATIONS TO OUR CLIENTS IN THE STATES AND THEY ISSUE PAYMENTS ON YOUR NAME THEN SEND IT TO YOU VIA MAIL OR COURIER I will need is your full name, address and phone numbers so we can foward it to our clients and they will start making payments to you as the company's representative in the states.

I WILL EMAIL YOU A LETTER OF EMPLOYMENT FROM OUR COMPANY WHICH YOU HAVE TO REPLY WITH AN ACCEPTANCE LETTER AND A SCANNED COPY OF YOUR IDENTIFICATION ATTACHED TO IT. AS SOON AS WE CONFIRM ANY PAYMENT COMING TO YOU I WILL LET U KNOW AND I WILL GIVE YOU THE INFORMATION TO SEND FUNDS TO THE COMPANY VIA WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER.

I just read that they (meaning the Nigrian 419 scammers) are also behind a lot of the post tsunami fake charities. Supposedly the Nigerian government is starting to crack down on the scammers because it is affecting legit businesses like tourism.

It might be more effective if it didn't come in batches of 20 emails

My friend's ex boyfriend received on of those type of letters. He has given them all his information including social security number, bank accounts, credit card numbers and his current soon-to-be bride's information (without her knowledge). He has flown to 3 different states to meet these people and has paid $10,000 to them.

She doesn't know the current status but it was unbelivable that anyone would fall for that. Thank goodness she's his EX!
