*steps up to mic, taps it, clears throat*

Alright then cats and kits, it's about time we poked at you talented lurkers out there and let you strut your stuff.

Here's the deal. I figure there may be some intimidation going on here. We have a select few that rise to the Open Mic on occasions, displaying their wonderful abilities to everyone. You read their stuff and think damn, no WAY I can follow that up with my work. This thread is not for them, it's for you!

If you've barely ever posted here, I want to see it! Step up and let 'er rip! It can be long or short, poem or story, rhyme or not, whatever you please.

I won't be posting in this thread, and those that usually post here (you know who you are!), just pull up a chair and order some :coffee: for the show.

Me, I'm going to do the same.

Oh, and if you need a topic, how about "Shyness"? No need to stick to the topic, but if you want one, you got it.

C'mon, I know we've got a hidden iceberg of talent here just waiting to surface. Let's see it! :snap:

Okay. Here's a very short poem, really just a couplet. This inane work sprang from my subconscious at about four in the morning when I was working on something else. This persuaded me that it was time to call it quits for the night. I call it:

SHYNESS

Trees of molasses and stumps of Parnassus and groves of archaic malaise
Trumpets harass us and sweepers bypass us in droves of Passaic filets

So you say you're shy?
So am I,
And that is why I lurk here.

I'm not that shy,
I'm can be quite effusive.
But I continue to lurk,
Since my swank is elusive...

You lurkers rock. :snap: :snap: :snap:

Anyone else? C'mon, you'll get nothing but good mojo, that's for sure.

This cannot be all the lurkers here,
I find that hard to believe.
Come join in, we'll lend an ear,
Until then, there'll be no reprieve!

I hear you and I call your bluff,
you lurk as much as I.
Why do we lurk instead of post?
Won't know until we try.

Posting, double posting
see this is why I lurk
technology has failed me
made me look like a jerk

Intimidation? No, it's not that at all.
I avoid open mics cause I don't have a ball.

You're really asking for it now...

I am a mom
of 2, it is true
The girl is 8
and the boy is 2.

Days at our house
are filled with fun,
for both of the kids
in the hot, summer sun.

We went on vacation
for Disneyland's birthday.
We had a wonderful trip,
we can't stay away.

Nineteen months had passed,
since we'd been to DLand.
Much too long for us,
so a March trip is planned.

Fall is approaching
and with it, school.
Saving for the March trip
has become the new rule.

So, we'll see you in March,
if all goes as planned.
Strolling down Main Street
at Disneyland.

So it's rough, and sounds like Dr. Seuss, but what do you expect from a mom of 2 kids??

You must spread some Mojo around before giving it to Brigitte again.

:snap: from this Seuss freak!

Cocktail in hand, I lurk
If only a cocktail were available to me at work
Sign and moan, I would much rather lurk than work
Bon mots to read along with the clinking if ice
Lounge of Tomorrow so ice cool, sooooo nice

Snowflake
lurking no longer

The LoT once had a lurker,
Who looks like a "lurking from work-er,"
Snowflake is the name,
Welcome to the game,
Try not to be a work shirker!

Snowflake got welcomed today
in the most stylish and swank of ways
lurking from work, tis true
Snow has those job burn out blues
Believe me the job it gets done
All the while I’m craving a cool one!

The Proposer had a plan
He hoped it would surprise her
Then a good friend with power
Though let’s add to this surprise shower
And Film the whole thing for an ad

On the Day to End Days, she still had clue
Even though His face was blue
With the stress of keeping it quiet
But right up to the end, she was buys it

We Approach the Jewel of Orleans
And then I’m on my knees
With a sob and a nod, she says yes
And Cheers come through the doors to us
