What is there to do in Ventura?? I'm looking to go hit up some karaoke, and a fun, laid-back bar when I go there, so wondering what there is available for those things.
I've given up on digitalcity, or other local guides, because often, the best information is gleaned from those you know and trust.

I lived at the west end of the valley for most of my life, yet only ventured into Ventura for fun once, and that was a concert.
Good luck ;)

Not much in Ventura. At least that I know of. Main Street is pretty cool if you like thrift stores. The beach is there. Santa Barbara has more "Night Life" if you will...

It appears you may have to be a pioneer of swank.
I'm sure it's there, and I'm confident you will find it.
Godspeed.

I'm not looking for anything high key, and in fact, I think I may just have to wander and seek for it. Accidental swank. Turn low key into high swanky fun.
I'll report back.

Ah Ventura....yeah, it's pretty boring. I'd join you in your adventure...but I'm guessing it will take place sometime in the next 11 days, and alas, I'll be in Europe.
I know I went to a karaoke bar on California Street once...I don't know the name of it, but it was pretty dive-y, and the people doing the karaoke were very amusingly bad.
I had dinner that same night at a restaurant called Cafe Fiore also on California street (California Street is easy...exit the freeway at California St. ;) ) it was pretty good, and they often have live music.
Nickelby's is the place to go if someone good is playing there...but I have no idea who'll be there, (I think it's located on Main St.)
One of my favorite pubs from Santa Barbara recently opened in Ventura...It's called Dargan's (http://www.dargans.com/ventura/index.php), but I've not been to the new Ventura location.
Yeah, pretty much, Ventura is what I drive through on my way to Santa Barbara...but good luck in your adventures in swank!

Haha, it won't be for a couple of months... I am not entirely sure why I posted this so soon, but he just mentioned he'd be coming into town, and it feels like he's going to be here tomorrow... But it's not until the end of September... hehe

I'll check into the night life. I've been to the Ventura theater for the occasional concert, and to Nicholby's. There is a small bar on California Street that can be fun. I'm not sure about karaoke, but I'm sure there's something.
During the day, there are lots of thrift stores. The Mission is open, and they have a little museum. There are a couple other very small museums near the Mission, though I haven't been in any of them. Restaurants and coffee shops on Main Street.
The local gay bar is further up Main, near the freeway. It's called Paddys. Main and Garden Street, near as I can remember.
It's a cute place. Nothing special, not hugely dramatic or anything, but kind of cute and laid-back. Mostly I go for the thrift stores or the Ventura theater.

Well, if that's the case then stop bothering us with your all your dumb questions about Ventura.

Hehe. I was just being dumb. I apologise, BE. Ask anything you want.
By the way, I read somewhere the Ventura has a Hardee's.
