I know many of you know this, but since some don't....
A Brief synopsis of the day:

Lisa was completely unaware what I had orchestrated for her. Through my connections with Disney, I had arranged for a camera crew to follow us for the entire day, under the ruse that they were using us to shoot a commercial about the average day at Disneyland for Annual Passholders. Little did she know that it was all a cover to shoot a commercial about my proposal to her at Disneyland.

A little background first. On almost every visit to Disneyland, we would visit the Jewel of Orleans. It is an estate jewelry store. Before Lisa had left for her class in Europe I had decided I was going to propose and the ring would come from that store…I was just hoping she’d find one she loved before she left. She did. It was from 1940 and fit her beautifully. So, the plan began. I would buy the ring and then when she returned from Europe, we would go to the store looking for that ring again, and instead of letting her try it on, the staff would give it to me. I would go down on one knee and do the deed.

So, on Friday the Disney camera crews came to our home and shot interviews with us, again under the guise. She was completely oblivious and yet ironically enough mentioned the Jewel of Orleans as part of our ritual twice. Perfect.

Once at the park on Saturday, we had two camera crews, a sound man, and a dozen VIP/Security with us, escorting us through the park and getting all the perfect, typical shots. All still following our usual day at the park and her completely unaware.

We slowly and casually made our way over to New Orleans Square, as usual. When we got to the store, we went in, to look for that ring, just as I planned, and just as was common for us. When they brought it out from back, Lisa started to reach for it. Before she could get her hands on it, I reached over and snatched it. Then I went down on my knee and she was immediately balling.

The crew continued to follow us all day, including shutting down the Castle to allow for us to be escorted through, skipping, with Mickey and Minnie…with several thousand guests watching us.

It truly was a magical day and it couldn’t have gone better if I had tried. And as a bonus, every single thing that day was picked up by Disney for us, including our amazing celebratory meal at the Blue Bayou.

Heheheh, I stole your post from LUn and posted it here the other day. Right after reading about your proposal, I found out that 2 other Disney geek couples that most people on these boards know also got engaged at Disneyland that weekend. Couldn't resist a thread on that topic, of which I made your proposal the highlight (by, ya know, stealing your post).

What's truly amazing about it to me is that I had planned the events of the actual proposal several weeks earlier, but when I mentioned to my VP friend, that I wanted a special dessert at the Blue Bayou it just ran out of my hands and turned into a huge marketing event for them, but the fringe benefit is that we will have a DVD of our proposal and even backstory interviews at our home before the actual event. How many else can say that?

You know it took a couple of days for it to sink in, but when I first asked for this "favor" and she suggested she wanted to film it. She said she thought it would be nice to show to her bosses what Disneyland means to people.

About two or three days after she said this I realized, she's 4th in line for the presidency....that meant she basically wanted was to show it to Eisner and Iger
