[This is that somewhat-based-on-a-true-story-but-modified-after-realizing-my-life-isn't-exciting story I may have mentioned before. I "finished" it a while ago and some of you may have read it previously on my LiveJournal. I wasn't going to share it here, but I've since reconsidered. I never officially finished and probably won't. And Bob's your uncle.]

The story of Jade begins not so long ago when we caught one another, I'll admit, checking each other out. Me, being the slow one that I am, did not realize I was being watched at first. I was too busy admiring the collar Jade was wearing.

Now, it took Jade's friend, whom we'll call Sydney, to introduce herself to me and then to Jade due to the apparent fact neither of us had plans of approaching the other. Sydney, before offering a name by which to be called, came to me and asked, "Are you single?"

I, not expecting such blunt first words, was already prepared with my response and answered, "Nice to meet you, I'm Matt." I finished my introduction with a look of complete confusion and after hesitation added, "ummm...yeah?" With a grin of approval, Sydney grabbed my hand and led me back to the circle of what I assumed to be friends.

The rest of the circle had smirks drawn across their faces as though they too knew what had just happened. As we reached the circle Sydney said, "Come dance with us." And before letting me go and returning to the empty space in the circle, Sydney pulled me closer and whispered, "Oh, and my friend thinks you're cute" and glanced in Jade's direction while walking through the middle of the circle.

As the band continued to play, the circle slowly dispersed and people left without offering any form of good-bye. Midnight rapidly approached and the group of skanking teens had reduced to a half a dozen. The 80z tribute band announced their last song of the night and finished the end of Just Like Heaven as they and the stage lowered into the ground leaving only fog and flashing lights.

Sydney pretended not to be interested as Jade and I introduced ourselves again, officially this time, now that it was quiet. Before the awkward silence grew too long, Sydney interrupted and mentioned that if we rushed we could get in line for one more attraction before the park closed. In a creepy, almost telepathic way, we unanimously concluded that an evening flight through Neverland aboard a pirate ship was the best way to end the night.

In line we learned a little more about each other, but Jade and I seemed to spend most of the time staring into each other while pretending to listen to Sydney. I shared my pseudo-goth interests, which led Jade to removing the bondage collar and placing it around my neck. Not too soon after, Jade insisted on leading me through the line holding the end of the bead leash that accompanied it.

At first I was a little apprehensive about the idea, but I quickly came to enjoy it just as much as Jade was. Not only was it bringing about curious looks from the people around us, which I always enjoy, but the feeling of the soft leather against my neck was curiously pleasing.

When our turn to board the attraction came, Sydney politely claimed the three of us would not fit into one pirate ship, leaving me and Jade to ourselves. As we flew over the city of London, we seemed to simultaneously adjust ourselves on the seat closer to the center, placing our inner hand on our own knee, very casually of course because we weren’t trying to get closer, just more comfortable.

Flying into the starry skies above Neverland, our fingertips touched, consequently causing our fingers to lace. The rest of the fight was a blur as I could think of nothing but the way our hands formed together and lightly caressed as if to memorize every small facet. Although it seemed we were both overly comfortable about the situation, eye contact was never made, almost as though there was a secret fear of discovering our imagination had produced the entire evening.

We exited into a now closed and empty Fantasyland. Sydney came through the exit gate soon after and smiled to see that Jade and I were still holding hands. The three of us crossed the drawbridge and continued down the brightly lit street, walking right where one should at the end of the night, the middle of the tracks.
