I'm surprised they haven't tried to ban her from singing the song entirely.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The state attorney general wants the country singer who made the song "Redneck Woman" a hit to stop "glamorizing" the use of smokeless tobacco at her concerts.

State officials said Gretchen Wilson can be seen on concert jumbo screens pulling a can of Skoal from her pocket while performing her new song, "Skoal Ring."

...

The U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Co., which makes Skoal, signed on to the tobacco settlement and agreed not to sponsor concerts under any brand names or enter into any sort of agreement with an artist to display or make reference to their products.

U.S. Smokeless Tobacco does not have an agreement with Wilson or any artists to promote its products, said company spokesman Mike Bazinet. Summers said his office is also contacting the company about the use of its products at Wilson's concerts.

Does this include "snuff"? That, too, is a smokeless tobacco. It's like a cigarette for your nose. :p

Note to self: if you should ever attend a Gretchen Wilson concert, keep your Copenhagen habit limited to ladies' room trips, Ally.

:p :D ;)

Oh, And what's up with that cherry flavoured Skoal?? Ugh. Like sucking on a Jolly Rancher as you inhale your cig.

Okay, I'm getting way off topic with my naive fascination of tobacco products.

Sorry! Continue!

How dare anyone exhibit unhealthy behaviors? Everyone must parade out only the "correct" way to live. Won't somebody think of the children???

Godfvckingdamnit, this country is fvcked up.

So it is ok to sing about it, but not to highlight the negative consequences such as uneven wear on your trouser pockets?

Hmmm.... I'm glad that the song isn't about Churchill cigars. That would really throw them into a tizzy.
