I really would like to try to make the Casbah show (and see Nouvelle Vague as well), but if anyone is up for the Troubador Firday Night, I could be convinced to join you ;)

Ooooh, the Troubador is such a good place for live shows. Great acoustics. Small venue. Ooooooh.

Sadly, I am in the area and could meet up, but it all depends on how keen C is to drive me all the way home afterwards. Plus, could they be sold out at this point? I'll check.

I have tickets!
Gram Rabbit will be opening for Maximo Park (who I know nothing about except they're a good english pop band) and will be playing at 9:30. I will be there with my friend Melissa from work.
Prior to that, Melissa nd I are meeting at Tower Video on Sunset where there's a release party for a friend of her's movie. Mink Stole, who played one of the parts, will be there - so if you're a John Waters fan you might want to do this as well (it starts at 6:00, but I may not be up there till 6:30 or 7:00 - I'm still working the details.

Gram Rabbit rocked and the Troubadour is a great small venue - it took me back to club days long past and reinforced my notion that the House of Blues is the MacDonalds of music clubs. It was great to see band members haning in the audience when not on stage.
It was great fun seeing this band play outside the giant stage of Coachella. Still mixing in performance art to their show, it was scaled back a bit from the larger venue (No creepy bunny dancers) Some people in the audience wore their Cochella rabbit ears. Regretably, I left mine at home - along with my camera. I hope to see them play again soon.

Alas, I have never heard of them either (until this thread). Let's hang out in the same un-swanky boat! :snap:

I'm not familiar with them either, but I do agree that the Troubadour is a great place to see shows. It's also one of my favorite places to play, although I've had the opportunity only once. It was much better than the Roxy, IMO.
Glad you had a good time!

Gram Rabbit was one of the bands we absolutely LOVED at Coachella and raved about after. They hail from Joshua Tree and have a great sound mix. We've been trying to see them again for some time. At least Chris got to see them while I was off giving the Neuhickmans a rest.
