I just have to say:
Margaret is SOOOO safe! That lady could break both legs, go blind from a spider bite and still not get a vote in tribal. Safe safe safe.
That's all for now. Add your own comments.

Actually, if you watched the end credits, she already has a vote. I was feeling kinda sorry for Jim...until I saw that he voted for her! wtf?
So, Steph and Bobby John. Steph was the obvious choice, and I suppose it was only fair for Bobby John to be the other so that no team could claim the unfair disadvantage of having Steph's curse.

Yeah - If you're off in the jungle, don't be voting off the nurse. And a trauma nurse, to boot!

I thought Bobby John was a goner until Jim hurt his arm. You can't just bounce back from a torn tricep.
And Margaret...wow! Can you imagine what it would have been like if she wasn't there...I was seriously thinking that they would pull Bobby John from the game the way his eyes were rolling back in his head. He needs a serious bounce back to stay in the game.
Steph...wooo hooo! Kat and I were screaming when they showed her! We were rooting for her last game...allthough from the start, Tom was our man! I think she's safe until the merge gets closer...then she'll be gone for sure!

Blake's days are numbered:(
How much does that suck...attacked by a killer tree out of nowhere. Not much he could have done, really. Gotta love the jungle, one tree branch is all it takes to kill a man (if it weren't for the fact that he was provided with water and a nurse...)

So in the preview for next week, they show Blake again getting worse...any thoughts on if that tree has some kind of poison in it? I am no expert, but if the other guys are bouncing back from their dehydration, there has to be another reason for him being so sick.
(I also have very little knowledge of trees)

Yeah, I was thinking poison. Or it could imply be infection, with the way it hit him you know it went pretty deep, a rinse from a water bottle isn't going to clean out a deep, pin-hole wound like that.

Do the producers/crew offer any sort of medical assistance, or only in emergencies, like when the guy fell in the fire a few seasons ago? If someone gets bit by a venomous snake, will they be offered antivenin and be allowed to continue, or are they done with the game?

I seem to remember at least one season where someone twisted their and the next thing you know they had a pretty professional looking ankle wrap.
I think they try to make it appear as if they don't give them medical help, but one would suppose they're smarter than that and do behind the scenes in the more extreme cases (perhaps just enough to stabalize them without really completely healing them).

There are medics that can come and give an opinion on whether a person should be pulled from the game. However, I believe if anyone is given medical assistance from show staff they must forfeit the game. That's not to say that there isn't someone on their team that could do a good job, as Margaret has done.

Anyone know if they are reshowing this episode? Damn VCR didn't auto-record last night and we missed it. I'm soooo bummed. :(

Well, finally saw an episode last night. :)
I was happy with the vote. Morgan sure got the rug pulled out from under her though. I will never understand how people think they can sit and do nothing at camp and get away with it. Lydia may not be the greatest asset to her tribe but she seems to have a great attitude and work ethic. I was happy that she didn't get voted off.
I wonder what is up with the guy that can't seem to catch his breath. He seemed to do fine in the challenge but is barely surviving in camp. Strange.
Also funny to see the NFL guy get outed by the other team. I'm not sure that continuing to deny it was such a great idea though. That's gonna come back to bite him in the ass at some point.

MBC - the guy having trouble catching his breath was injured in the first episode. During a hike, a branch with these nasty looking thorns fell off and hit him in the shoulder pretty hard. Margaret (the nurse) pulled three of four thorns out of him.
My suspicion is that there is some sort of virus or something that is affecting him. He would have absolutely no immunity to anything like that, being in a completely different environment than he has ever been in before. (of course, rereading this thread, I see that theory was already put forth)
I was amazed at the red head guy that was so weak he couldn't pull himself up a ladder in the reward challange. If he continues to perform that poorly, he'll be gone soon. Considering how close the finish was, it was easily his fault they lost.
And I never thought Morgan was much to look at anyway, though I understand some did.

It will be interesting if they both (Danni and Gary) make it to the merge. Do they know each other's last names? I doubt the name "Hogeboom" or however it's spelled is common enough that he could claim mistaken identity.

You know what I'd like to see on Survivor? (not that this is has anything to do with the thread) Survivor "twins" edition. 8 or 9 sets of twins, separated from each other on the teams. It would add an interesting new dimension to the game in terms of having a HUGE interest as to who is voted off the other team. I think it could change the game dramatically.

Yeah, I was surprised that his head wasn't on the chopping block for that. You've got to be pretty damn exhausted not to be able to get up a ladder.
I think the twins idea is a very cool concept!

I can't believe they didn't vote Gary off! He totally lost that challenge for them! If it's all about the challenges, then he should have been gone last night...of course he did provide that lovely meal of ants!
I think Blake is faking to a degree. He had NO problem doing both challenges AND going twice on the first challenge. And didn't appear to be having much problem after either of them.
And Steph made it thru the first tribal...Go Steph!
Twin Survivor - Good idea!

No, they don't know his Gary's last name. In the first episode, he said if anyone recognized him, he'd tell him they were mistaken and his name was actually Gary Holcomb or something similar to that.
But what he's done now is idiotic. They WILL eventually find out he's lying. With her being a sportscaster, there's no way he will be able to deny it through the whole thing (you KNOW they did that bit of casting on purpose). What he should have done was say, "Well, yeah, I WAS an NFL quarterback, but that was 15 years ago and not who I am now." He retired before there was big money for NFL players, so it's not that big of a deal. If he did that, he was simply being modest for the first few days. But now, by flatly denying the direct question, he's become a liar. Bad news for him.
Danni's abs scare the hell out of me.
Oh, and I wanted Lydia to go. She pissed me off in the first episode. In the initial insane hike, at the point where Yaxua was right behind Nakum when they hit that road, Lydia was one of the women lagging way back. But when, already having lost, they reached the destination, she made sure to power her way to the front and be the first into the ruins. Lady, if you had that much in the tank, why were you lagging when it counted?

Ah, the pitfalls of not seeing the first episode. :)

No one has commented on the happenings in a while. So I'll revive it
I think it is so funny, amazing, flabbergasting, sickening.....whenever a power player who has said he'd do anything to win gets so miffed about being voted off.
Judd was outplayed by the people he mocked. They turned Steph. He was so cocky and self assured, claims to have never lied, and then was so angry at being played himself.
While he bugged me, I actually respected the way he played - mince no words, say it like he sees it.....but then he lost all respect from me tonight. He turned into another whiner that thinks only he's allowed to play the game and strategize.

Yup. And AFTER he gave a big ol' speech about how everyone needs to deal with being voted out. Uh huh.
What a hypocrite.

I mean...within minutes of saying, "Hey, every one of us needs to stop saying we'd be conflicted about voting someone out and just deal with the fact that it has to be done to get further," he's calling them scumbags. Retard.
Although I do feel bad for him in one respect. Based on what he said to his wife, he was 100% honest about wanting to take Steph to the final 2. So it kinda sucks that that got doubted. BUT, he made the fatal mistake of assuming his security, and for that he deserved to go.

My preseason hottie was Danni. While she is dangerously skinny, I still thought she was hot (sans the pink cowboy KC hat, anyway), and last night she was looking mighty, mighty fine.
I thought she played a great game. Only played a few cards but played them well when she needed to.
I would guess the final vote count was 6-1 (because they only showed one vote for Steph). That surprised me a bit.
I think Cindy blew it by keeping the car. Not that she would have won.....but she obviously liked those people. How often do you have the capacity to give 4 people a new car? I would have given it up in a heartbeat just because that would be so cool.
I liked this season. Next season looks interesting. Looking forward to learnging what the whole "exile island" thing is and how it will work.

Once again it is that most uncomfortable time... Time to review my Pre-season picks.
So this year I'd have to say that Judd looks like a good contender for first boot however he lists his favorite board game as "candy land" which shows he has some sense of humor. While the clowns don't last too long they don't get the boot as fast as the ornery ones. I'm going with Lydia as the first boot.
To win it all, hummm 8 guys 8 girls, based on extensive research (ie the bios on the survivor web site) I'm going with Cindy to win it all.
Please feel free to bookmark this post and use it to humiliate me later in the season.
Overall I'd have to say I've done worse (a sad comment to be sure). Cindy turned to out be a dweeb but she went fairly far and Judd well, it turns out he was both funny and ornery.
We'll just skip over my whole "The returning survivors will not be real players" comments.
I do want to know what in the hell is up with the effeminate white guys? Last season Ian wimped out at the end and this season Rafe gave it all away with his "I release you" speech. He should have gone with: HELL!! You will burn in HELL woman if you don't keep your word and take me to the final two.

Great season.
For the first time, the attempts by the producers to mix things up by switching tribes around actually WORKED. Alliances were changed. Danni was from the underdog tribe.
The returning survivors had a real shot, unlike in All Stars where the previous millionaires were dumped quickly.
Good share of nutcases and hard workers. Rafe's winning streak, Steph's one win, Lydia always coming in last - there were a lot of fun angles to watch.
I adore this show, and am continually impressed with how fresh it is, season after season. :)
